Been playing a lot of Cliffs of Dover on the ATAG servers. Made me want to get this. If I do is there a good multi-player community for the module and all other DCS modules?

JediMind,

curiously, I started with DCS, because of the p51d, then the Dora and now waiting the K4 release this week :), and have just recently "discovered" il2 CloD...

Other great ww2 birds will join. These superb aircraft models aren't being released at a very fast pace, but the amount of detail with which they are produced, and the overall quality of the flight and systems modeling are IMO the top among all of the flightsims I have used so far, mostly Civil.

A ww2 map will also be released during 2015, and make any online combat, or sp mission / campaign make a lot more sense than flying those missions over modern territory, but there are already excellent online servers. Can't be compared to what we have at the ATAG and SoW servers for CloD, but still great a good example being the "Dogs of War" server.

Coming from CloD with the TF patches I am sure you'll easily learn the p51d, although it's tricky, and it will take some training flights to get the right feel, but once you master it, it's ... well... SUPERB! the same being the case with the Fw190 D9, and, I am sure, with all of the upcoming ww2 models, starting with the Bf109 K4.

I also use DCS for the UH-1H. It's the best rotary wing simulation I have ever tried.

This all being said, I couldn't even consider leaving il-2 CloD. The quality of the flight and systems and DM are also very very good in that sim, and I, who didn't like air war and just came here because of the flight dynamics, am progressively giving my first steps in it's great SP, Campaign and online server missions at the ATAG and SoW Servers. There is really something special about il-2 CloD, the feel of flight and of being there ( great scenery, great effects, great everything :-)

Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...

I just bought Flaming Cliffs 3. So now I have quite a few modules. Do I actually have to buy the P-51 module to play online? It's unlocked for me but I think it's a trial module or something.

There is a P-51 and a TF-51 module, the latter is free and comes with DCS-World.

Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

TF51 (civ Pony) is the free2play content of DCSW. You need to buy P51 module to get the combat version of Pony.

Good multiplayer community you can find, as mentioned, around the

Dogs Of War server

And yes, P51 is worth the money in the multiplayer environment. But be aware that it is still far away from replication of the WWII. But who cares? ;) even the P51 vs P51 is great fun.

Wings instantly come off at 7Gs, engine dies after 5 minutes of continous running at 67"hg.

Yep very accurate depiction of the Mustang.

Yes that was sarcasm.

67"hg?? Where that damn thing can be found? :D

I hope that people with access to documentation or access to real world 51 pilots will cooperate with devs to make the Pony better with time..

..but till that time I will fly the Pony the way it is simulated.

Pony in DCS can fly much longer than 5 mins on engine setting 67" but it realy depends on flying speed.

You will kill engine very fast if you are slow...

Sorry, I don't see how can the engine die after 5 minutes of slow speed dogfight at 67"hg when the British allowed 5 minutes of 81"hg for combat.

Unless your ground crews are cheapskate and pour low-less than 100-octane crap into your gas tank.

Yes the merlin 66 could run less 100 octane fuel, Soviet Spitfire IX did run on lower than 100 octane fuel(maybe 92-95, but certainly not the usual 78 octane crap the Soviets usually fed their tanks), of course with reduced performance.

Hey, new guy showed his interest in P51 and you are going to spoil it completely

As I wrote, there is chance that people with evidence can push the tests/devs to make the Pony even better. But there are threads for it 'Bugs and Problems' for example.

Create your posts, gather lot of evidence, create videos etc. and I am sure it will make some push.

if the engine dies after 5minutes using WEP everytime, then sorry you are doing something seriously wrong.

No I didn't say "everytime", but still it makes no sense for the engine to die after 5 minutes running at 67"hg at low speed, when the British allowed their Mustang IVs 5 minutes of 81"hg use for combat, certainly that would cover low speed dogfighting.

help! I can't deactivate the ingame Pilot. I would like to do the tutorial, but all I see is virtual arms and legs but no buttons and switches. "Show Pilot in cockpit is" unchecked, the P-51 is the only one with that problem.

Open beta 1.2.12
