Siegfried Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Sorry for no posting imagesbut you can reproduce very easy. When I zoom out the external view the landing gear covers disappear and I can see the silouette of gear wells. In a flight I take damage in a wing point against runway, only superficial skin damage, not strultural, then I zoom out in external view and half wing disappear. Sorry for my bad english.

The lod is taken from the shape with landing gear down also when it's up. This is visible during the external dynamic view (F3), and it looks really bad.
Conroy Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Improved with the last update but still broken. Check please the wing shape during the lods transition.
arthuro12 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 This also happens with the exhaust covers, they fade to white/grey for me above 20/30 meters and back to textured when zoomed in. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
9.JG27 DavidRed Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Improved with the last update but still broken. Check please the wing shape during the lods transition. yes, the LOD models are really bad.wing shape changes at quite close distances...gear is visible through the upper side of the wing.ailerons, elevators trim tabs disappear and so on and so forth. quite ugly and looks like a rush job. but more importantly, whats really annoying is, that now the 109 as the first ww2 aircraft actually uses LOD models up to 20km until it stops being rendered. but the p51 and fw190 still use this stupid ld_tec box..partially invisible and if not invisble green, fitting perfectly into the surrounding. cant believe that such an important yet really easy to fix BUG really need that long to get attention by the devs... also the inconsistency is rather annoying...all aircraft are of relative same size, but follow totally different rules of how they are rendered.i am really interested to see a logical explanation for that...:)
ED Team NineLine Posted December 16, 2014 ED Team Posted December 16, 2014 i am really interested to see a logical explanation for that...:) The logical explanation is simple, there are only so many hours in the day, the other aircraft are reported, but will require going back to them and creating the proper LODs, obviously with the 109 they were able to correct it at an earlier state making it easier. As well, the LOD issues on the 109 are already reported internally. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
9.JG27 DavidRed Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) yeah sure, there are only so many hours in the day...but the thing is, all the work is done already...of course i dont know what their future plans are, and whether they completely re-make the LOD system, spotting system...but if not, then now with the arrival of the 109k4 we have everything we need to get at least rid off the ld_tec.edm box... i had a quick glance yesterday at the files and was positively surprised that the last lod model of the 109 is a very very basic box-plane. does it resemble a 109?well no, and yes.it just looks as much as a 109 as it looks like a p51 or any ww2 fighter plane.this model would fit for all upcoming ww2 fighter planes(as long as they are of approximately the same size).and to make use of that lod model for the p51 and for the fw190 as well, its a job of not even 1minute.change two lines in two files...thats it. and the p51 and the 190 also take advantage of that lod model, and dont use an invisble box anymore. so as the hours in the day are limited, and as i well know that the ED team is only so big, i made that little adjustment/mod, to finish the job. what i did: i made sure that the p51 and the 190 also use the proper lod model, and dont use that ld_tec.edm box anymore. also, as i am a fan of consistency as long as it makes sense, i changed the lod distances to the same numbers for all 3fighters. i also got rid off the 4th lod model of the 109 which is responsible of the changed shape of the wings. so, even if ED has something better in the plans already, something way more advanced which will take time to finish, which i can understand, i would expect to give us something like this meanwhile.please, devs, feel free to take exactly this mod, and implement it into the next patch so we have something official. until you come up with your finished work.LOD.zip Edited December 17, 2014 by 9./JG27 DavidRed 1
