Hello

I am having an interesting issue with USB headers and the slightly grumpy ASUS X99 Deluxe, and a rep told me that my issues MAY be due to one of my USB devices exceeding USB Standard.

Anyone know what the current draw is for the Warthog throttle? Its USB 2.0 so I am guessing it shouldn't be more than 500mA. Does it have any behavioural issues though? I plugged it in once and it caused a surge (PSU is a Superflower Leadex Platinum 1000W so I would be dumbfounded if its that causing the problem, I bough the damn thing on the strength of the bench review's claims of super stability).

My throttle works perfectly through onboard USB2 so it is within spec. I'm not sure that answer such as "draw is exactly 3xx.55mA" going to help you or tech rep. If moving it to another port doesn't solve the issue consider using powered hub. And IMHO you should be using one with the throttle in any case.

Anton.

I have never had my Warthog plugged into the MB. Aside from the mouse and keyboard, I don't have anything but hubs plugged into the MB.

The throttle meets the USB 2.0 specification, but it isn't a high speed device. Its just a full speed (12mbps) device.

I just returned an ASUS X99 Deluxe with similar issues. It would detect the Warthog joystick, throttle, and Saitek combat rudder pedals just fine no matter if I plugged them into USB 2.0 or 3.0. The issue was if I left any of them plugged into any USB port and rebooted, the computer would freeze right after POST during windows logo animation. After a few days I lost a couple of USB 3.0 ports altogether. It would also boot into basic BIOS randomly as well.

I currently have an ASROCK X99 Extreme4 Mobo. It has the same issues - if I leave the joystick, throttle or rudder pedals plugged in during a reboot or startup. Nothing else seems to cause this problem. Devices like Track IR, Wireless headset seem to work fine during boot, but not joysticks, throttles or pedals - weird. It maybe an X99 thing and UEFI Bios / USB thing.

I hope someone could shed some light on this.

Hello everyone

Thank you for the suggestions and info. I actually do have a hub but was finding that stuff would stop working with it in. X99 has a lot of teething problems to iron out I think! I will give it another go and see if its changed.

Yeah its weird about how only certain things cause the boot hang. Its a PITA constantly unplugging and re-plugging every time you want to reboot
