Things really got messed up when I upgraded from 1.2.8 to the latest release.

I'm working through a major pain just trying to fly my p51.

I've been at this for 2 days and I'm really at a loss.

I have deleted my saved games dcs folder ( several times )

repaired DCS world.. several times.

I've basically figured I have to redo my input profiles for the p51 but this isn't going very well.

I can't figure out what the heck is going on with the options menu.

First.. there is P51D Game and P51D Sim..

If I'm just "training" which of those do i use?

Now here's the kicker... I have no way to assign my throttle and prop controls.

This thing will not accept anything but buttons...

I only see control for throttle up and throttle down

I don't see any indication for my propeller.

If I try to set my throttle (up) and push the throttle forward, nothing happens.

Basically I can't figure out how to program anything that uses a proportional control like an X-Y axis ( if this is the right term ).

Has something drastically changed?

I am so frustrated with this. I think I have it set up, I can see my control surfaces moving, and yet, it's all I can do to get it off the ground.

I used to be able to roll down the runway, approach take off speed and lift the tail and it would basically be flying.

DCS is also asking my to verify serial numbers and all this stuff?

I had to do that with the P51 ( only been flying it since spring! ).. and now it wants the serial number for the A-10.

The only variable i can think of is that a while back I set up two user accounts. One "master admin account" and the other with some limitations to make the computer a little more secure online.

Each user ( me ) ended up with individual saved games folders in my "user" directory.

Something looks really different about the options section.

Especially only a choice of throttle up, throttle down. This is a control that would have some variable value. It is assuming that i am using a button for up and a button for down i think.

I'll stop here and see If some light gets shed on the screwed up mess.

If anyone has a Thrustmaster Hotus and Throttle profile that actually works so i could at least load it see if that helps I would appreciate it.

I looked in the section for user files but they all seem to be "older".

If worse comes to worse I'm frustrated enough to just delete this whole mess and start over.

Sorry to have to keep asking for help with this. Time for some motrin!

Make sure you are using the axis drop down menu. Clear all existing bindings to eliminate conflucts. Select the device and control you wish to set (device is in columns control is the rows) then hit 'assign axis' and cycle your axis through its full range of movement.

Prop control is something like engine RPM. That may be why you are struggling to find it.

Not much time to go into details, but there is a setup guide in the C:/program files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Doc folder... not sure if it is separate or integated in the GUI manual, now.

Basically you have to select AXIS ASSIGN (button below the config fields) to show the analogue axis.

IMPORTANT: make sure any axis is assigned only one controller!!! If you have rudde pedals the toebrakes tend to be set for pitch and roll as standard...

For any details refer to the GUI manual/control setup guide or if you still have troubles get back here.

WOW.. I must have been so caught up trying old profiles and going back to the sim that I totally overlooked "AXIS"... duh..

I'm really not this stupid "normally"

What is TF51-d i saw that come up in mine also and I don't recalll seeing it before ( not that I have spent alot of time here.. I was blessed to get a profile from one of the guys on here that fit real well. Of course, that's not much good now after 1.2.8

And I wonder why all of my profiles (diff versions ) are so whacked out.

On each one the throttle controls are Bass Akwards.. the pitch is on the right and the smaller throttle control is assigned to the left. - none of my doing!..

And finally.. Do I want to use Game or Sim profile??? - or why do we have two?

Thanks for all the help ( again )... and thanks for the heads up on RPM fo.r prop

My mental telepathy isn;t what it used to be!

Hope i can fly and stay out of your hair for a while.

Thanks greatly

Nothing has changed since 1.2.8 in the way you set up your controller profiles - besides from the file format (that .lua.diff stuff). But in-game, in the options menu, nothing has really changed.

The TF-51D is a free module/aircraft that comes togehter with DCS:World - similar to the Su-25T. It is the civil version of the P-51D without any weapons. If you want to fly this, you need to set up your controls for the correct aircraft - they are not the same for TF-51D and P-51D.

In the controller assignment page, the "P51-D Game" settings are used by DCS when you have enabled the "Gameflight Mode" under Options->Gameplay. "P51-D Sim" is used if you have not enabled this arcade mode. So if you want the full, detailed and realistic experience, you disable "Gameflight mode" and set up your controls under "P51-D Sim".

Just Do your own... always best to make it so you like it. Basically you need the joystick axis for pitch and roll, throttle axis 1 and 2 for RPM and Throttle, the slider maybe for flaps, and the fire button plus some basic buttons for the gunsight (wingspan adjust and distance).

Anything else could be done with the mouse in SIM.

SOLVED.

BTW, I had looked in the AXIS folder previously, but nothing worked.

After revisiting that, I had some double assignments... like throttle in the rudder pedal?? thats a new one.

Loaded up training and did same thing.. go down runway and can't lift off.

So, time to figure this out. my first thought was ( after reading another post ) was thrustmaster and some input.ini file in the dcs program folder.

Nope.. I didn't have that scenario.

So off to thrust master site and downloaded new drivers and firmware., reloaded all of that and restarted.

AXIS controls now work... Plane now flies ( nicely! )

There's one for the back burner if all else fails.

Thanks again for all the help in noodling this thing out.
