Yes, time for another training. This time time-on-steerpoint and landing under poor visual conditions is on the menu.

I highly recommend my scenery mod since this will greatly enhance the atmosphere.

Good morning and welcome to todays training where we will test your NAV, TOS and ILS skills flying the A-10A.

On this foggy morning you are tasked to take off from Oktyabrskoye airbase to Simferopol airport.

 

1. Taxi and take off.

Due to the fog a follow-me car will guide you to the runway. It's a busy day so please keep up with the follow-me car to avoid accidents. Take off and climb to your cruising altitude of 8500ft. Some turbulence is to be expected around 6000ft.

 

2. Navigation.

You will cross civil airlanes so stay at the assigned cruising altitude until steerpoint 2.

At steerpoint 2 descent to 4000ft and head for steerpoint 3. When you have reached steerpoint 3 the RTN mode will be selected automatically to help you line up for an ILS aproach.

 

3. Finals.

Simferopol is a busy airport and you have clearance to land between 10:20 and 10:23hrs. Make sure you initiate your landing on time (check TOS indicator in HUD during your flight).

If you follow the indicated carret shown in the RTN mode, the ILS mode will automatically be selected after a few seconds. Some warnings: Due to the wind your nose and flightpath will differ. Watch the ILS-bars carefully.

Powerlines and trees are in your flightpath; Don't fly below the indicate ILS-flightpath.

A follow-me car is waiting for you at the end of the runway. He will start driving towards the assigned parking area at exactly 10:22hrs. Don't be late!

Houston. I have a problem.

 

Downloaded the ZIP file this afternoon at work and now again this evening at home. In both cases both WinZip and WinRar tell me it's an invalid archive and can't unzip it. Any ideas?

 

BTW, what's the edit for the lime green HUD? I lost it when I installed V1.12a and can't find my crib sheet that lists the file and edit.

Looks like the file isn't compressed at all. If you download the file, and then rename it from a .zip file to a .mis file, you can load the mission without any trouble in Lock On.
