Farlander Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) So when i got my warthog i was really pleased with it, and it seemed thateverything was fine.... only problem i had (unlike others) was that the grip (and the plastic that it's attached to) twists a little... it came like this out of the box, and it isn't a big problem right now, but when i pay this much id like to have a product that isn't faulty... so just to make sure, do any of you guys have a slight wobble left and right on the warthog, or is it completely centered no matter what you do? (on the yaw/twist that is) (i have been extremely cautious of not over over-tightening and to not use excessive force) Edited January 31, 2015 by Farlander
Lausbub78 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 It's normal, propably every stick has it. It comes down to the design,a halfcup moving on a ball.
98abaile Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 No this isn't normal, my warthog is dead centre and has no twist movement (although TMS right did just die on me :().
txmtb Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I'll agree with 98abaile, mine has no wobble and no twisting at all. Win 10 64 Pro, MSI Z390 I7-9700K @5ghz Kraken Z63, 32Gb Corsair Dominator, MSI RTX-2070, 1TB NVME 2TB SSD's, TM Warthog, Pro Rudders, OpenTrack w/ IR Clip
Lausbub78 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Not even a rotation in the 2-3mm range? I've read that the majority of WH owners have a small twist in it. Mine had it since the beginning some 3 years ago aswell as some slight slop in the center.
txmtb Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 If there's any there, it's imperceptible, not even a mm twist to be honest. Mine is fairly new, a little over 2 months old. There is also almost none in x/y either, maybe 1 mm but nothing that makes it feel loose or sloppy. Lausbub78 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Maybe they improved something then. Or some are just more lucky than others. 1mm sounds about right in X/Y,thats what I have too. It's more apparent with a Stick extension though.
txmtb Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Yea, I can see how the extension would magnify it. Thinking about getting one just to see the difference. Farlander Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 looking at it again, i don't think it's a huge problem really... it's only like 2mm or something
Farlander Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 if it is relevant, my warthog number is: 24080 bought it just before Christmas
Lausbub78 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I was on the same situation as you are when I got mine. It's an expensive toy and we tend to look for the smallest flaws and ponder if we got a faulty product. All I can say is , now after more than 3 years of heavy use, that it didn't get worse as far as I can tell and no button or switch has failed yet. It never was a problem, you just get used to it. Not much one can do about the little slack and the twist,it's a flaw in the general design of the stick. Seems some are lucky and have almost none, but it may develope over time by use and wear etc.
Sarge55 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Mine has had a slight 2mm twist since day one (2+ years old) and it's still only 2mm. It doesn't affect the centering of the joystick in game, I check calibration occasionally and it's still dead center. I had the same "oh no second" you just had when I got mine but it is not an unusual occurrence... I don't notice it now.
