SilentGun Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 No update from LN today hah? WAIT! there's still a couple of hours to go on our side of the world... Link to my Imgur screenshots and motto http://imgur.com/a/Gt7dF One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales... :)The Future of DCS is a bright one:)
PiedDroit Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 My bets are on not wasting resources on developing DCS 1 any further. Of course, this will only happen when Edge leaves beta stage. DCS 1 and DCS 2 are not two completely different products, only major change is graphic rendering and maps, but the game engine is pretty much the same. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135473
VincentLaw Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 it is interesting though, will ED finalize DCS WORLD 1 and say that that is it, this is final version with most updated code when they will switch to DCS World 2 ? or will they abandon DCS World 1 like that .I don't think you understand what DCS World 2 is. ED will not Finalize DCS World 1 because there will be no more DCS World 1. Anyone who downloads DCS World will be getting DCS World 2. The "2" is just a version number. They could call it DCS 1.3.0 if they wanted to. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dikigonzo Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 So basically DCS World 2 is just improved graphics? that's it ? Thought it was whole new physics engine , that is sad
Dikigonzo Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I am pretty okay with current level of graphics as my GTX 970 handles it like easily. I was waiting for more advanced physics engine so developers could implement more cool staff in aircraft flight models and algorithms
Dikigonzo Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 It'll come out.....eventually....... where did you get this pic? is it confirmed ?
Coyote Duster Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 No lol!!! Those are mothballed f14s collecting dust

Those are the areas that need work.
fltsimbuff Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) where did you get this pic? is it confirmed ? That looks like a photo of retired F-14s at AMARG. I doubt that has anything to do with Leatherneck. Edited March 1, 2015 by fltsimbuff not sure where I pulled BOMARC from when remembering the name...

Grimes Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 So basically DCS World 2 is just improved graphics? that's it ? Thought it was whole new physics engine , that is sad Its lots of stuff. The only thing that is not handled directly by EFM code are collisions, and except when you are on the ground you should spend over 99% of your flight not collided with anything. With the current EFM API there would be no problem implementing "cool" stuff like flyable VTOL airplanes. The only things that can't really be done yet (as far as I know) are wake turbulence effects and terrain effects on wind currents (other than ground effect). Neither of those things would require an entirely new physics engine. I could even use the current EFM API to make a Star Trek warp drive if I wanted to... but Georgia is too small for warping. Zibell Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 The simulator does physics way better than graphics and online play. Those are the areas that need work. Exactly. Plus they will unify executables (front end and simulation), which will allow better mission editor and enciclopedia. Now where's that update? [sIGPIC]hi[/sIGPIC]
King_Hrothgar Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I'm guessing that's the US military's boneyard. Can't remember the name of it. In any case, DCSW 2 is nothing more than a major update as already said. The main feature of it is a switch to DX11 (currently we have DX9) and a shift of graphics processing from the CPU to the GPU. Basically everyone running a distinct graphics card instead of an integrated one should see a major performance boost in addition to better graphics. As for the game being "finalized," I hope that never happens although it inevitably will be at some point. The day the game is finalized is the day the game dies. New content and features are required to keep any game going. Without it, people eventually get bored and move on. Even if they don't, sooner or later new operating systems and hardware will force them to.
Zibell Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Nah, we can always keep an old PC around when that time comes. This genre is dying, gentlemen. [sIGPIC]hi[/sIGPIC]

fltsimbuff Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I'm guessing that's the US military's boneyard. Can't remember the name of it. Actually that is probably AMARG at Davis Monthan AFB. It is sort of depressing to pull that up on Google Maps. You can see all sorts of airframes on the imagery. B-52s and F-16s, F-18s and F-14s, and even some A-10s.

SilentGun Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 wow, can we get some cockpit panels, knobs, sticks throttles from there :D actually I don't think they would mind ;). you would just have to pay a hefty fee... Dikigonzo Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 actually I don't think they would mind ;). you would just have to pay a hefty fee... i thought they might give it for free :D that would be nice, I bet in Russia they would give Mig-21 cockpit for free or for symbolic price :D
Coyote Duster Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 actually I don't think they would mind ;). you would just have to pay a hefty fee... they would, the US doesn't want f14 parts leaking out and possibly going to iran
Dikigonzo Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 they would, the US doesn't want f14 parts leaking out and possibly going to iran yeah you are right Iran still uses f-14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOrRW7Vrbaw
