In my DCS world install under mods I have an Aircraft folder with all the types installed. I also have an Aircrafts folder with 7 aircraft in it all of which are in the Aircraft folder

Is this normal ? should the aircrafts folder be deleted ?

"aircrafts" is obsolete and should be deleted. That is a leftover of a former patch (1.2.12 iirc?) where the autoupdater had some difficulties.

Delete that folder - and then perhaps run a DCS Repair, just in case.

Can be confusing.

Yes, that issue has been around for awhile. It is interesting that folder (aircrafts) keeps showing up after an update, yet it hasn't ever shown up in my Open Beta install even with the same updates. My guess is when ED gets time to breathe from all they are currently working on, they will address this issue.:smilewink:

"keeps showing up"? Like in, "is suddenly back although I deleted it"? That would surprise me.

Afaik the autoupdater was supposed to rename the folder, but failed. Subsequent updates then only knew and only cared about the "aircraft" folder and the "aircrafts" folder was left behind. But once it is deleted (manually), it should be gone for good and never again be touched by the autoupdater.

It would probably do no harm if the old folder would be kept, but imho better to be safe. We don't know if the remains of the modules can cause weired effects - besides the wasted space, ofc.

Yea Flag,

After every update I have to delete the "aircrafts" folder. Like you said, it really makes no difference whether it's there or removed. Perhaps it reappears whenever I do a DCS repair, which happens often after an update. Although with this last update I had to do a repair on the Open Beta install and the "aircrafts" folder was not in there, but definitely in the main DCSW update. Honestly never tried to ascertain just what is placing it back in but now that I'm on to it I will try to determine where it comes from in the future. It's really a non-issue.

Are you using mods that you apply after each DCS update? Maybe these still use the old folder?

Sounds like a plausible explanation. If your mods are in order, the old "aircrafts" folder doesn't return by itself - and the updater most definitely doesn't put it back either.
