crazyeddie Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Have asked this question before with no response so thought to have one more try. I would like to change the way aircraft land on some runways and how they exit to the parking spots, because some of the airfields work completely stupidly with aircraft rolling along the whole length of the runway then turning around and coming back the whole length again, which they do not need to do having slowed down enough to exit much sooner. Where is that data kept and any ideas how we might change it. ? PS: No need to tell me it can't be changed, your silence will suffice. :smilewink:
Stonehouse Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Wind direction will change the direction of take offs and landings - does that help you any?

Valinor Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Yep, that's how aviation works :) You want to take off and land against the wind to take advantage of the higher speed of the air flowing on the wings giving you more lift.

I knew that  but had not realised how much of an effect that had in the game, so I have been playing with it only to realise it is not as well implemented in the game as it is in real life, so whilst it helps in some areas it actually creates more problems than it solves. But thank you for your most helpful input. I have concluded nobody knows how to change the taxi way data so I think I will abandon that for now.
USSInchon Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 In my experience with USAF tactical fighters, they will roll out to the end of the runway to exit, because they have to be inspected and re-pinned by the ground crews who are stationed at the end of the runway. So they will always roll to the end with very few exceptions. Now that being said, they don't dilly-dally either like they do sometimes in DCS.
crazyeddie Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Slow moving transports that slow to taxi speeds within a few hundred meters of tarmac, then take forever to taxi to the end of the runway, turn around and taxi all the way back up the runway at the same slow speed when they could easily and safely exit as soon as they slow down. Frequently on the way back up the runway they crash into aircraft that are landing. That's not realistic at all. If I could fix it I would.

It drives me crazy too as a mission planner. Just like the restriction that prohibits capable heavies from formation flight without dicking around with the Follow command. Cheers, I don't need no stinkin' GPS! (except for PGMs :D) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
