Hey guys,

Right now I am using a regular X-52 stick and throttle (not the Pro).

I kind of want to buy another stick that's slightly better, and use it with the throttle I already have. My purpose to buy a stick only is to save money and because I like the X-52 throttle anyways.

Any Suggestions?

I've been looking at the Defender Cobra M5. Would that be an upgrade, downgrade, or lateral move?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, they use the same SST software but you will have to reprogram the stick. Or download one profile. The Pro stick is more solid and is also more precise I think. I have had one X52 regular as an replacement after my first X52 pro was worn out and I bought a X52 pro again shortly after. The regular is good with all the buttons and stuff but the pro is better. Thats what I think. You can of course go to the X55 but that have had a lot of issues. Well there have been plenty of issues with the X52 pro also if you read the forums. I guess you never know before you have the product set up ;)

Yeah, the problems with the X-55 are kind of intimidating, but I think leaning towards buying a used X-52 Pro or X-55 stick and using it with my regular X-52 throttle. It'll probably depend on what kind of deal I can get. :music_whistling:

You don't have a lot of options. The X-52 Pro and X-55 are sold as sets, so a direct upgrade doesn't seem to fit what you want. The CH Fighterstick is a good option, but it lacks twist and so will require the purchase of rudder pedals to go with it. The TM Warthog is also an option and like the CH sticks, requires rudder pedals. In the USA, that's the end of the mass produced options if we ignore the entry level sticks.

Edit: I should point out that my old X-52 Pro still works after 8 years of use (now sitting in the closet) and my new X-55 works just fine after 3 months of heavy use. I haven't had any major problems with it and so far it seems to be holding up just fine. No signs of wear at all. The stick's ergonomics leave something to be desired as some of the buttons are a bit hard to reach. But the stick itself is smooth and accurate. Same is true of my old X-52 Pro. I've never had a non-pro version.

My first X52 pro was very much in use for several years but the main HAT switch started to skip some so I opened it up and checked it out :music_whistling: should not :P

Yeah, I would try to get a used stick on ebay if I were going to use it with my existing throttle. I actually bought a CH Fighterstick off ebay a couple of days ago, but some of the buttons were semi-busted so I'm sending it back. It's not a big deal sending it back though, since I didn't really like it anyways as I found it uncomfortable to use.

I'd like a warthog, but it's definitely out of my price range. :(

I'm definitely considering that option, but that also brings up the question of X-52 pro vs. X-55 since the X-55 is less than $30 more. What do you guys think?

The Cobra M5 is EU only. I'm sure you could get it shipped to the US, but that might be more expensive than it's worth.

Ultra, I have both sticks in question. The big question is how many buttons do you need? The X-52 Pro has greatly superior ergonomics. It has fewer buttons and rotaries compared to the X-55, but they are all comfortable and easy to reach. The X-55 has more of everything but it also feels cluttered and poorly thought out.

In terms of feel and quality, the two seem similar to me. Price wise, I paid $120 for a new X-52 Pro 8+ years ago when they first came out. My X-55 was $200. I noticed X-52 Pro's were also $200 at the time, though maybe that's changed.
