Yurgon Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I'd love to see the EC-135 in DCS. Okay, sorry, now back on topic. :music_whistling:
Catastrophy Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Awesome to hear the trim is realistic - it seems such an elegant design. I took the Heli to free flight and try some loopings and combat turns. In the two weeks flying it, I probably crashed only once or twice by doing something stupid (was shot down way more often) - I still have trouble controlling it at low speeds (and in wind) but it's generally a greatoverall design. The only thing I hate is the HUD speed indicator vanishing when I go combat mode (I think it's weapons selection and the Skhval that makes it disappear).

Yeah, the Kamov designers made a few peculiar choices. Disengaging SAS when going below 4 meters in Auto Hover is another really weird choice. I guess IRL pilots get trained thoroughly, but in the sim this caused me quite a bit of headache and, more importantly, crushed Shkvals (and other things, like, rotor blades...). :D Of course, placing the countermeasers dispenser about as far away from cyclic and collective as possible wouldn't have been my first choice, either... :music_whistling: Overall, though, the Ka-50 is a pure joy to fly.

Shown in HUD during Weapons mode; There is Actually a vertical scale on the left side of HUD that displays current airspeed(if you are moving). The right side is a vertical scale (if you are under 50m) that is RALT, and a small scale bottom right for climb/descent rate. Blackeye Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Shown in HUD during Weapons mode; Only above a certain speed threshold IIRC - apparently it's assumed that when going slow in weapons mode you'll be maneuvering by checking your surroundings rather than the instruments.
