LawnDart Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Anyone know how lockon plays or looks in 1680x1050 (or which setting is the closest avail)? Looking at a great deal on one of these, but not sure... http://viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx2025wm/ [sigpic]http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/Signatures/sig_LD.jpg[/sigpic] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster Corsair 750D Case | Corsair RM850i PSU | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE | 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200 | Intel i7-8086K | Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler | EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW | Oculus Rift | X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty | Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB NVMe | Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB | WD Caviar Black 2 x 1TB | TM HOTAS Warthog | TM Pendular Rudder | TM MFD Cougar Pack | 40" LG 1080p LED | Win10 |

NEODARK Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 yup, works fine. (make sure you change the ratio as previously said) have you checked the DELL LCD's?
LawnDart Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 Thanks! When you change the aspect ratio in the config file does it crop the screen or does it actually display in widescreen from side-to-side with correct aspect ratio? Yup, looked at Dell LCD's too. Very nice, especially the 30" screen. Too bad I haven't found as good of a deal on one of those... NEODARK Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 check hardforum.com (the hotdeals section) there was one not long ago fo the 24'" 1900x1200 for around $650 they keep constantly posting stuff (also slickdeals.net) the aspect ratio is so that your planes dont look "fat" as by default the image is simply stretched to fit. this way you'll also have more visivility to your sides, so in short, you get to see more to your sides without the image being distorted. (should be great for tight formation)
LawnDart Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 So, you actually get a larger field of view in Lock-On with a widescreen display (without stretching the picture)!!! That's awesome... The deal I found on the 1680x1050 ViewSonic screen was in the high $200's brand new. Roman G Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Just a suggestion for ED - I think it would be better if Lockon by default automatically calculated screen aspect ratio based on screen resolution instead of widescreen users needing to meddle with config file ...
504MrWolf Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 ive got a widescreen Laptop.....1400 x something is that 1,6 ?, will test it today. www.VVS504.co.uk www.lockonskins.co.uk
G3 Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 mr wolf, unsure if your joking but incase you are not, to figure your aspect ratio its horizontal resolution divided by the vertical. eg 1024x768 = aspect of 1024/768 = 1.333 pretty sure thats how it goes. and yes if you go and edit the graphics afterwards you will need to do it again. if you were joking then please disreguard.:music_whistling:
Nate Dogg Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Hi, This link is all you will need to know about lockon and WS. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=13573&highlight=widescreen I think with 1.12a patch it corrects the FOV automatically but i can't remember, worth checking. Maybe it should be stickied coz there are many thread floating around like this on now. cheers
sumoscouse Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 if thats how you work out the aspect ration then this means that my aspect ration (17 inch LCD) is 1:25 Screen res is 1280 * 1024, it wont go any higher. I run Lock On FC (1.12a) at same res with Med to High Settings and if I run F-15 Mission (SCRAMBLE) I get about 22 fps sitting on the tarmac Cheers Sumoscouse Out :megalol:
LawnDart Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 Just tried it out with 1680 x 1050 on a WS and it looks awesome! Thanks for all the tips with changing the aspect ratio to 1.6 etc in the graphics.cfg and the view angle for FOV in the view.lua. Next step is a projector...
