636_Castle Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Hey guys, anyone else keep a fancy time piece on their wrist while aviating? :D I have a couple favorites of my own right now. The Seiko SNA411 is what I'm currently testing out. Legibility isn't as nice as I'd like an aviator watch to be, but it has that knockoff Breitling look to it. For function I stick to my GW3500B. 12 hour local time on the hands, and 24 hour zulu time on the digital display. I'm curious about what everyone else uses. I can't decide if I wanna keep my Seiko or not. I worry I'll miss having zulu at a glance. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!
chaos Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Sinn UX for looks but I actually prefer to wear my Fortis Cosmonauts Chrono. The Sinn is a divers watch and filled with oil to withstand extreme pressure. Don't worry about Zulu time. Easy to convert while you're looking at the watch. You won't miss it at all. Just get a simple watch. All the bells and whistles are distracting... and Breitling, Rolex etc. are a definate no-go ;-) Edited April 19, 2015 by chaos "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."
sobek Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Not much of a collector, more a window shopper. :music_whistling: I love the look of the old Longines, but alas, they're a bit out of my price range currently. :P I still have my fathers confirmation watch (same model as this with bit different housing), but unfortunately it's in such bad shape that a repair would cost way more than it's worth. :( Edited April 19, 2015 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. leafer Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I hate wearing watches; I can feel them on me. I don't know. You might be interested in these, though. Made from wood and no two are the same. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Suchacz Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Sorry, no collector here. But I like the design of the classic deutsche luftwaffe B-Uhren :smilewink: http://monochrome-watches.com/the-history-of-the-pilot-watch-part-five-b-uhr/ ...but imho they are too big to wear them everyday. But you can buy some smaller copy with the same design Per aspera ad astra! Alfa Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Not a collector either, but I got a Volmax Aviator 45mm(attached photo) that I am extremely pleased with :) JJ
