X700 tuning issue?

Hello, I upgraded from a standard ATI X300 card to an Sapphire ATI X700 Pro PCI Express. Although by no means a top notch card, it got some good reviews and indeed: for all my games I have a very impressive gain in performance:

 

F4:AF/WOV/IL2 PF/BOB2/B2/Counterstrike, you name it, the card does it really, really much better & faster than the X300, as is supposed to be.

 

Unfortunately ... FC1.12a, which ran quite well on the X300 (it is a P4 3Ghz machine with 1Gb ram), runs *considerably SLOWER* on the X700 Pro.

 

Any suggestions? Is it a Catalyst setting or so? Is there something I should now about Catalyst drivers relating to Lockon?

You might have 8X anti alliasing and heat blur on silmultaneously wich kills FPS on most cards. You might want to swich one of the above options off.

 

Otherwise it could be a driver issue, use OMEGA's third party driver MOD. It runs on my ATI9800 pro quite well in LOMAC. The drivers that comes with the card usualy have very poor perfomance.

Check also to always enable Catalyst AI in Cat Controll Center, that enables optimized Settings for the Game.
