Witchking Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 WICKED WICKED IL2 movie::: Pictures of war :: A must see....amazing. I love the little rafts in the ocean with crew at the end. http://www.machinima.com/films.php?download=1194 -------------------------------------------------------------- Ed since you are definately going for quality releases now  can you take a little more time and implement stuff like this:: I am being impressed by the pacific fighters sim day by day....play the game....look at the movies....its brilliant...soo simple graphics with just the right effects and polish. the water looks amazing and its still playable. The cities are full enough yet....playable with even 30+ planes in the sky. Most importantly...explosion effects.. dust, debris....water splashes etc...fire all look amazing. LOMAC definately needs the improvement here. especially make note of the explosions. I understand ED is taking one thing at a time and improving it based on their own order. But this is a compliment for additional as well as directional improvements to the sim. Good luck ED ;) We know BS will be amazing. :) WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
Witchking Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 I heard about it being released "when its done" . :) WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
ARM505 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I still think LO's explosions are better than IL2's. IL2's seem more like 'movie' explosions (lots of fire) whereas LO's are blacker, with a rolling sort of mushroom cloud (the ground ones at least) - they tie in with what I have seen IRL. But thats just my opinion. I've seen people complain about LO's explosions, I've always wondered why - I thought it had the best explosions of all the sims I've used! Just shows you the varied opinions one gets... Plus, I would imagine LO's simulation of the electronic world, with it's associated LOS calculations etc make the behind the scenes work more demanding. Still, IL2 does seem more efficient gfx wise somehow.
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Ed since you are definately going for quality releases now  can you take a little more time and implement stuff like this:: I am being impressed by the pacific fighters sim day by day....play the game....look at the movies....its brilliant...soo simple graphics with just the right effects and polish. the water looks amazing and its still playable. LOMAC definately needs the improvement here. I agree totally. In Lockon, when I destroy a tank, it smokes for about 2 minutes then it goes completely out. And the smoke is only about 100 feet high. That's just not even close to realistic. I wish I could count on the things that I destroy to improve situational awareness. The way it is now, every run I make on my targets I have to make note of my compass direction, then reverse it to go back again. I like doing this, but when coming around again it would be nice to see smoke columns rising higher and higher in the sky. Also, wish I could play with the water that PF has. I get good frame rates with it maxed out in PF. Even on Medium it looks fantastic. They made some awesome improvements in their 4.04 release, adding whitecaps in mid-seas, improved the waves crashing on beaches, and cloud reflections are great.
Witchking Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 update: notice post 1 get the movie link I posted there:: http://www.machinima.com/films.php?download=1194 its truly amazing. I love the way how efficient it is in the graphics department. look at the water splashes....I can count around 20 when the plane bursts apart and falls in the water. Not a little fps drop when that happens in game. In lomac...2 splashes and the fps is 2. Weta43 Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Nasty dialup here so haven't watched the movie, but remember if I render you a film there wont be any drop in FPS on LO either Cheers.
Witchking Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 well...actually in IL2 in real time as well...there is no fps drop due to water splashes....its PF updated to 4.4 I guess. Do not take me wrong here....I am just giving the devs ideas and trying to help them with the direction to go to. a little OT...but I have seen other stuff from this guy...holy crap check this movie out as well....btw...there are low res versions as well :p http://www.machinima.com/films.php?id=982 its called V1 rocket and also try ogla bridge. he is very talented....amazing cinematic style. try V1. It just felt like a movie for me. all I missed was a bag of popcorn :p. I also recommend ED guys to check this out. ED...please add some crazy fanatsy stuff "like" this....V1 rocket . check that out....pretty wicked...its fun to make fanatsy missions like....secret prototype weapons facility etc...lol! experimental weapons etc..:p...makes good ground targets. anyways...I'm off to hunt a nuclear power plant in lomac ;) I can;t wait for this in BS....the ground gun crews.. VMFA-Blaze Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Hi Wich King : I've been flying IL2-PF since the very beginng and I still like it.. The new add on is very impressive and I was thinking about trying it myself. But I'm extremley found of a more modern format and have been flying Strike Fighters since before Lock On was released... Personally I think that L/O wins the prize hands down, even with its problems, but I've found that SF really has some thing going for it and thats the ability of the community to create Mods or Addons of there own making.. I enjoy flying Russian jets just as well as Western birds and S/F gives you that aspect in all eras.. I've discoverd 2 Mods recently that have captured my attention, their called Korean Air War and Red Falcons... Check out these screenies and by the way its flyable... If you want to see the complete simulator go to SimHQ.com and scroll to the Strike Fighters forum .. ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
Witchking Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 hi blaze, WOW, I guess you are one of the hardcore simmers eh ;).That is really interesting buddy. Its pretty kewl I guess when u make a transition from one sim to the other. You exactly know what u are missing, what is better etc. I did know that strike fighters was a sim that existed..but never bothered trying...you know what?? I think I will give it a shot..I think futureshop near my home has a copy in the bargain bin.;)..or maybe that is just some old novologic arcade ;) sim that I am mistaken about. ;) .. Flanker 2 was the first sim that I got into...and then lomac. But nowadays for some reason, I am impressed by the life-like theatre missions of IL2. I especially love the ground crew and soldiers in that game....and this is the only thing missing from lomac :(....I do like lomac,..the graphics are definately great in it as well...especially at that specific time of the day in the evening which every movie maker here wants to use...;)...the best representation of sunset hours in any game. :) However, the world with its richness seems sterile. There are buildings..trains...trees that are not entirely functional...For instance...Colliding with trees in IL2 makes ur plane break up...and they acutally look a lot more 3d IMO. There is all the special effects you would imagine....dust from ground when flying low...wake from torpedoes and ships . There is a big difference in the engines. Lomac has a lot more code for the complex radar, avionics and FM..but the biggest thing that bugs me is the fps drop when u r trying to have fun..:(..like just try the su-33 quickstart mission for instance...try using a cannon and shoot "inaccurately" ;) at a ship...the shots that fall in water make the fps drop sooo much. SImilarly...I am afraid to use gunpods on the tankovy...I know the moment I am on a attack run my already low 15 fps will drop to 5 or 3 making me crash. My plea with all these graphic threads that I am making is for ED to consider adding richness in the world and NOT to bother by adding 100000 poly ground vehicle. I understand some of the models are by community members. But it seems like an imbalance here. One vehicle is uber high res, the other is like a square. same with aircraft. THis is where IL2 shines. The models are modest...level equivalent to the flanker we have. Yet, the world has soo much immersion. Now especially with the updates...the new water with SM 3.0 and it still retains its high fps in intense situations. lol! well...I think I rambled enough. :p..lol! hope I am not on attack by "someone" ;)...I think the someone knows who he is ;). He was the one who gave me a bad rep for stating my OPINION. 1 WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
zaelu Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 He he, welcome to IL-2 series my friends. The ones that didn't tried it ;). I would love a sim that combines the two. Both games have to give to each other things on all aspects. From mission building to gun fighting. I hate the landings in IL-2 and when I land in Su-25T it makes me "cry". (not that I land badly in Su25s) The mission builders... I want both of them in one package :) The land in Lock on outpasses IL-2 engine by far but still has more to learn. Just the other day I installed Google Earth (no advertising intended) an on the left bar something was jumping into my eyes for more than 5 minutes... "Grand Canion"... I said... ok... take me there... let's see. Nice pictures, top view... I said woaw, for a top down view it looks pretty... 3D... then my jaw droped. I tilted the image and fell from the chair (just a figure of speach, I'm using a car chair at my desk)... you should see it if not yet (the canion not the chair :P). I am afraid that the next MS FS X will reproduce acurately (or very close) the whole world. I mean looking at the speed wich that canion was loading via internet... man... I was droping with 5 000KM/h from the skies and small texture/geometry flickering due to loading was seen. And the scene is over Lock On by far... we must accept that. A Vrtual World in wich you can jump in time to WW II to play as corsair pilot over Pacific and then jump to a Su27 over Europe in a fictional story of Cold War gone Hot... then jump to a 747 just landing in London after hours over atlantic... I may be dreaming... but it is coming. I hope Oleg and Olgerd :) don't miss the chance. Witchking Posted May 10, 2006 Author Posted May 10, 2006 well said zaelu. Very good post. Totally agree. :) It will all happen some time or the other. Its only a matter of time when ED makes a battle simulator with fps, naval, ground and air forces SIMULATIONS in one. Probably around 15 yrs or so :p....but the day is going to come. In the meantime...we can only hope they make the flight sim immersion that they provide a lot more better like the IL2 universe.
