I have downloaded Aries and plan to use it,

can some kind person give me a link or point me in the right direction to some basic "what we have found so far" FAQ,s concerning using it alongside DCS / TeamSpeak Multiplayer.

As I am not a member of any squad and do take advantage of the good members who supply open TeamSpeak/ multiplayer servers.

I have no wish to upset anyone by using Aries,

I actually printed out the manual and will read it as soon as my back injury has recovered from carrying it from the printer:book:

Do I or should I at least inform and ask permission from the teamspeak squad server /renters

Can it have a detrimental effect on the teamspeak 3 server I log on to ?

Will my Aries interfere with non users in teamspeak (same Channel) other than my voice being distorted?

Basically I am asking if will I cause a problem by using it, I'd rather not if it does.

The manual sits on my desk mocking me for my inability to have the smarts to understand all but basic instructions.

Thanks for any constructive information.

AFAIK, using Aries on a server with other users in your channel that don't use Aries will result in you not hearing them but they will hear you. In essence, you can't have two way communication that way.

Since Aries is all client based with no server thing installed, the TS3 - DCS coupling is done via the DLL file where the frequency, position, altitude and such are transmitted to the TS3 client which, in turn, communicates this data to other clients.

As long as the other clients are not using Aries, their TS3 clients ignores the extra data and simply make your voice heard, without modifying it.

If they do use Aries but do not meet frequency, distance or terrain masking, they may or may not hear you and will be able to communicate with you.

That said, I think Aries has its place in groups of pilots that want an extra immersion factor. For public servers without this additional immersion, I don't think Aries will give you what you might expect of it.

Thanks

Good post

That was very informative,

I feel there is no need now for anyone to add a post if it is to help me, but as a general discussion on this if anyone wants to contribute they can post to their hearts content, as far as I am concerned my post was answered.

You can hear (and communicate whit) other players in the same channel by clicking the "Eavesdropper" in the Aries TS3 menu.
