jcbak Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=98&v=p2511jFOGKM I could sweat the pilots were wearing Members Only jackets. I thought my father was the last member. DarkFire Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 A couple of things surprised me in the video: At the 1:13 mark, what's the green sheet thing in the cockpit of that Flanker? Looks like a curtain of some sort??!? I thought that the Ka-50 was a more or less experimental aircraft that was only ever bought in tiny numbers for special forces support. Very surprised to see an entire flight of them in the video. Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 The Ka-50 is a production helicopter that had its run cut short. Go on the DCS website and download the flight manual, it has a really nice introduction chapter about the history and design of the helo, good read. What you see here is its improved form, the two seat Ka-52. It's a big departure from the Shark, and it is in production on both regular (AF) and Ka-52K (navalised) versions.

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 13, 2015 ED Team Posted May 13, 2015 Correct me if I am wrong, I read this somewhere, the curtain is used to protect the pilot from a nuclear flash. wingnut Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Look at the stick inputs required for the formation flying in the last 6 seconds of the video.[sIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/27wvRIj.png[/sIGPIC]
