I could sweat the pilots were wearing Members Only jackets. I thought my father was the last member.

A couple of things surprised me in the video:

 

1. At the 1:13 mark, what's the green sheet thing in the cockpit of that Flanker? Looks like a curtain of some sort??!?
   
2. I thought that the Ka-50 was a more or less experimental aircraft that was only ever bought in tiny numbers for special forces support. Very surprised to see an entire flight of them in the video.

The Ka-50 is a production helicopter that had its run cut short. Go on the DCS website and download the flight manual, it has a really nice introduction chapter about the history and design of the helo, good read. What you see here is its improved form, the two seat Ka-52. It's a big departure from the Shark, and it is in production on both regular (AF) and Ka-52K (navalised) versions.

I'd say that's a curtain for practicing instrument flight. They draw it across the canopy so that the trainee can't see outside.

Correct me if I am wrong, I read this somewhere, the curtain is used to protect the pilot from a nuclear flash.
