Art-J Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) ^ Rgr that. It was indeed recorded with "Full" version of the Pony. I'll check if the TF behaves similar. Edit - Yep, similar results with TF, even a bit better ;) . With the same test starting conditions: rumbling sounds after ~12 seconds from WEP, engine failure after ~25 seconds. Track attached. P.S. - I'm not sure, but total seizure might be more likely to happen as a result of combat damage.zapiekanka_z_kucyka.trk Edited May 29, 2015 by Art-J i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

You can't seize the engine to completely stop the propeller/shaft. I've higlighted what I'm after several times. Art-J Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Smacznego! And please report back with your findings. Freezing the engine to death is going to be much more troublesome, if ever possible. I tried a couple of fast, shallow dives from 11000 m, winter map, rads wide open, various modest MAP and RPM combinations (couldn't make up my mind what the best combo for this evil purpose should be). Although the temps were dropping like crazy (down to about 6k, then they started raising again), while oil pressure jumped over redline, the engine kept on ticking fine. When I ran out of altitude, I firewalled it while oil temp was 15 degrees, but brave Merlin didn't seem to be bothered ;). Got bored eventually :D i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Python Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I'm trying to destroy the TF-51D. Do they differ this much in terms of engine performance and management in DCS? Ahh I see, sorry, I thought we were on about the P-51d. I haven't flown the free trainer version so I have no idea, although I would suspect engine management would be the same. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bucic Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 I managed to seize the engine using prop governor failure. Interestingly 'Oil leak' failure does not work i.e. the event does not occur. Art-J Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Ha, that's why I recalled seizure happening in combat! Governor in DCS Pony still is the biggest "bullet-magnet" amongst other systems :D. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Bucic Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 I've just did a 3+ minute flight with oil temp at the edge of the indicator + overreving. Nothing happened "because" I had the coolant flaps on auto.
