cichlidfan Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I just spotted this... Steam Refunds You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it. It doesn't matter. Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours. There are more details below, but even if you fall outside of the refund rules we’ve described, you can ask for a refund anyway and we’ll take a look. http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/ ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Tone71 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Now that is interesting. Thanks for posting this! Socket7 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Seems like a good move for consumers. There is some legitimate debate though about what this means for games you can finish in under 2 hours. Not sure what to do about that. Maybe a flag gets set when the game is completed? Practice makes perfect.
empeck Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Id want my money back if a game only lasted 2 hours! Why? If the game is short, but good, the price is reasonable I don't see the reason why ask for refund. It's a comparable entertainment time to a movie. I'd rather take good and intense two hours over repetitive and boring 40+ h.
cichlidfan Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 I just need them to get rid of the two week after purchase limitation. I have quite a few games, with less than two hours on the clock, that I am unlikely to reinstall. :) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! cichlidfan Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Don't let that hold you back; Always worth trying i guess. True. To be honest, I would really prefer just to have the ability to give games to someone, just like you can with gift purchases. piXel496 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) It should be read as marketing. - It feels positive and customer frienly. - It lowers the threshold to buy when hesitating. In the back of your head you now have the argument of returning the software. - From the hesitating customers that click buy and don't like the product. Only a limited percentage will ask for a refund. - Netto this formula generates more sells. . Edited June 7, 2015 by piXel496 Be carefull when you have oniomania... old stuff I made
cichlidfan Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 It should be read as marketing. - Netto this formula generates more sells. Of course, but that doesn't cancel the benefit to, at least, some customers. piXel496 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 True and the refund is an insentive to buy other software. I am not cynical.:) Its a benefit for all not only the customer. . old stuff I made
IvanTehFennec Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 All these little indie-devs crying about it make me laugh. The ones claiming their sales were hurt are even better. If I bought a game in March, some indie game, and realized it was trash, I'd want a refund alright. Now that I can refund it, I will. Too bad Brink falls outside this window. I can't believe I bought TWO (2) copies.
