I just went from wired to wireless dsl modem and I lost couple of frames (not online).

Has anyone else had simular experience?

If someone can confirm I'll have to consider going back to old modem.

Thanks.

Wireless sucks big time for online play. I used to play with it. It played but I got alot frustration because it would drop connction with more than 16 people in the server and sometimes It would lag for no apparent reason. I had no FPS impact by changing back to ethernet direct connex. USB connex also sucks.

NP, BTW are you the reciever or emmiter of the Wireless?

If you are the emmiter you should have no problems because normaly you should be the one still directly connected to the internet. My wireless router is gaining dust. I also was never able to make it run again after having had to reinstall the firmware. My PC was a reciever and the router was mounted on another PC downstairs.

plus having a usb powered modem sucks on the CPU where-as a ethernet mains controlled modem router dosn't as much..thats what i read somewhere and it made me upgrade to my speedtouch 516 router. Here's mine..http://speedtouch.com/prod516.htm

And my broadband speed went up from 2meg to 2.3meg for some reason :)

Oh yea and on the subject of broadband last month i ask for my NAT number and with that the sales technition asked me why i wanted it,i said i was just browsing other ISP's and then he (Wannado) gave me a months free broadband..so i could browse for a month free lol..of course i didn't decline...give it a go u might be rewarded..i was!

yup, USB.

If there is any way to use ethernet, you'd be better off. (its also more reliable, and there's less latency).

but if the only thing available is USB, it'll do. (make sure to turn off the USB power saving feature in device manager)

I got Router in one room and PC with reciever in other. Reciever is now connected in USB, and my old modem was connected to lan card. I'll get the router in the same room where my PC is and connect it by UTP cable as it was before.

Must be couse of USB.

I wouldnt mind few FPS loss, but i've lost few crutial FPS where the count was 15-16 (over cities), it is now 11-12 and the difference is huge.

I've explained wrong; when I said "not online", I ment not playing lockon online, but I am connected to net all the time as soon as PC starts.
