erjdriver Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 When I assign the trackir z-axis to the longitudinal axis and zoom to a slider - it seems to be ok except that when i bring the slider back to the starting position - there's still a little bit of zoom enabled. I like assigning the trackir z-axis to zoom - the problem there is that it assigns a little bit of zoom and am too close to the dash. What do peeps use? I need the ability to move in closer and look at the hud - the default assigning of trackir z-axis to longitudinal axis is not close enough.
King_Hrothgar Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I use TIR for head position only and have zoom on a rotary. Works fine for me but I did put a dead zone on the midpoint. My rotary also has a center bump. Things you may want to try are increasing TIR sensitivity on that axis and setting a custom default head position.

FYI I use the same method, I tried altering the axis response in TrackIR software but found best results deleting TrackIR z axis in the aircrafts' control settings and using a rotary on the throttle (X55). I experimented on a free flight in most flown aircraft, then accessed 'settings' from ESC menu, that way I could quickly compare one setup to another without reloading. Experiment a bit and whatever works for you, works. Worther Edited July 18, 2015 by Worther_1 Worther_1 DCS Black Shark 2, A10-C, Huey, MiG-21bis, Hawk, Flaming Cliffs 3, F/A-18, Nevada Terrain.
Kozmyk Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I have TrackIR x,y and z axes running. For the z axis I have more forward dead zone than aft. I also use Cockpit Camera fwd/aft as an override set to two spare stick base buttons on my T16000m. Zoom I have on a slider. DCS seems to take a while to acknowledge when I've returned my head position to normal. I do a lot of TrackIR centring though if I wait long enough DCS can catch up. The other headtracking axes work fine for the most part. DCS also seems to throw a bit of Zoom in when I look down into the cockpit, although at close quarters it's difficult to differentiate Zoom and Z anomalies. Extending the z dead zone forwards has helped a bit but I've not got it perfect yet. Kozmyk Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 On a related note, I've just caught up with Proper Neck for DCS World I found it sorted a lot of my head position problems. I still use a separate Zoom slider but Proper Neck makes looking around the cockpit feel much more natural. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116 OS:Win10 Home CPU:i7 3770K 3.5(@4.3GHz) COOLER:ZalmanCNPS10X-PERFORMA MOBO:GigabyteGA-Z77X-UD5H SSD#1:SamsungEVO850Pro 500GB SSD#2:SanDisk240GB HDD:2x Seagate2TB GFX:GigabyteGTX670 WF3 2GB OC1058MHz RAM:16GB 16000MHz DDR3 KEYB'Ds:Corsair K95/MS SidewinderX4 MOUSE:LogitechG700s MON:2x ASUS 24” ROUTER:ASUS RT-N66U DarkKnight INTERWEBS:Fibre152Mbps/12Mbps JOYSTICK:TM T16000m Modded THROTTLE:TM TWCS HEADTRACK:TrackIR5Pro
