erjdriver Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I'm playing Deployment campaign and in one of the missions there's radio chatter re bullseye. How do I figure where that out? I see it in the mission plan - but are the cords already in the abris or the pvi. how do i get to it and also how do i interpret the radio instructions. Thanks.
Looney Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) A bullseye call will look something like this: "Target X is at bullseye 315 for 14" What this means is that target X is located 315 FROM bullseye, range 14 nautical mile (usually, I don't know if this scales with setting in DCS for metric/imperial). I don't know if bullseye is in the Abris but don't think so. You can use the F10 map and look at the bullseye, from there, use the draw tool to move north-west (315 is the direction in degrees) and fourteen miles. That is the position of the target, you may want to note them down, the coordinates should be in the top-left part of the screen. Us e left ALT Y to toggle between lat/long, decimal, MGRS and X/Y grid, use decimal for correct PVI-800 coords. If you want to fly directly to your target, on the PVI-800 press: PVI master Mode -> EDIT Select PVI NAV TGT Select target point number Enter coords in decimal, press 0 before coords for north/east press ENTER PVI Master Mode -> OPER Next, press NAV TGT and the nmber you saved the coords to and follow the HUD directions to your target. Use the T_HEAD - Time/dis to view true heading, distance and time to the target point. ShuRugal Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 in the Campaign, bulls calls will almost always be completely worthless due to the bullseye being improperly placed several hundred Km from the target area. You end up with all your calls being the same heading +/- 1 degree at 200+ km, not a very precise method to get a reliable fix.
erjdriver Posted July 18, 2015 Author Posted July 18, 2015 Thanks guys... In keeping with the spirit of simming - pressing F10 doesn't seem like the thing to do - that's not an option in the real aircraft. I would think the bullseye can be saved as a fix in the abris. then using the features of abris can draw a line to the approx area - got cords and then use the pvi to navigate to it. seems like a lot of work but i can't see another option. if the instructions are w/ relatively short distances - then one can view the BE on the abris and eyeball the approx location - at least till you get it in the abris.
Fishbreath Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Use a target point for bullseye—check its coordinates using F10 at the start of the mission (part of your briefing, so it's okay), and punch it into the PVI-800 as a nav target point. That'll give you an ABRIS marker and a navigational reference. flo57100 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Yes, you can use the F10 view...Or you can do it in a more professional way:smartass:: once you receive your bearing/distance info, use the ERBL function of your ABRIS, place the marker regarding the bearing/distance info, note the coordinates shown on your ABRIS, and use your PVI 800 to enter the coordinates as a NAV TGT point :pilotfly:
