Helios -> DCS World 1.5

Recommended Posts

Maestro72x,

Those lua's are required to get all the digital stuff working.

You also need the latest Export.lua for DCS 1.5 which is available here:

http://www.captzeen.com/helios/downloads.asp

and this one goes here:

C:\Users\your user name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\

Here's a copy of the file for you:

.

Export.lua

Sorry if this has already been covered but have you checked to make sure you have added the dcs a-10c interface in the helios profile editor and checked that the install path points to the correct installation (C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta). If you've done it right, look in the Helios profile editor, DCS A 10C tab, at the bottom of the A-10C Setup panel and it should say 'Your DCS A-10C configuration is up to date'.

I have same problem than maesttro72x...can't get F15C to with 1.5.

I assume that there is no *_in it.lua files for F15C?

This is at Helios log..seems that server can't be found.

31.10.2015 8.45.54 - All - Helios Version 1.3.190.448

31.10.2015 8.45.55 - Error - Error retrieving current version.

Exception Source:System

Exception Message:The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

I edited hosts file (under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) but that didn't helped...

are you talking about CapZ 1.5 profile?once copied over the Config should query the export.lua and if it finds itself it should show "Your DCS A-10C configuration is up to date"? because if you click on "setup a10c" it copies over a different old 1.2 config...

Its something to do with networking.. Im actually in the process of doing a fresh win10 install cuz im having issues with DCS in multiplayer and we cant figure that out either..

Will post back when I get installed

finally ended up wiping my pc for many reasons.. after I installed it very quickly and got it running..

Get CaptZee export.lua for 1.5 and put in

C:\Users\user\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts

open Profile editor, open Loz Sm v2.1. Reset monitors Save

run control center..

You do NOT have to click on "setup dcs a10" as all that does is write the export.lua file anyway but the Captzee export.lua you copied before has all the proper info in it anyway..

Next I need to get the monitors setup for the digital displays.

Thanks everyone for their help.

Hi Maestro,

Sorry, I can't offer any help in relation to your multi-gpu setup but I think I've read somewhere that DCS doesn't handle SLI and Crossfire setup's too well. Please don't take this as read, this may not be true.

I'm feeling for you mate - I've had my fair share of problems too - some very early mornings recently. This stuff really pushes your patience to the limit (and sometimes beyond).

Everything is working fine one minute and then suddenly, something inexplicably goes wrong and before you know it, you're trouble-shooting again. It's all so time consuming, often at the expense of other things and of course leads to spending more time fixing than flying. The only thing which keeps me going is my passion for the hobby and grit determination.

There has been many occasions when I've felt like dumping the whole lot but of course, this is short lived and just borne out of sheer frustration. Hang on in there, someone will come along soon - you'll get it right.

It might be helpful if you provide details of your rig (see my signature)...

I appreciate you're using multi-gpu's which suggests you have a high-end system but I'm just wondering whether your's is an example of a system which is bottlenecked?

Alternatively, (and, in my opinion, more likely) it may just be that DCS cannot fully utilise your gpu set-up?

This is just speculation on my part but nonetheless, something I find very interesting - Have you previously had your system running DCS at much higher frame rates? (Here, some comparative values might also be helpful).

If so, we can eliminate the hardware and move on to the question of tuning DCS itself. As far as I know and, at the risk of stating the obvious, it is as simple as this... the more eye-candly and filtering you have 'ticked' the more processing power you need - low frame rates would tell me your settings are too high but of course, if your system has run better in the past with the same settings, then something else is the culprit.... ummmmm...

My problem was....Nvidia Surround...after I turned it off everything started to work normal...so other way saying..you need have all monitors separate not combined as in Nvidia Surround.

I had Surround on because of iRaicing....but last night I manage to get iraicing to work without surround.

I'm using 3 monitors connected to a single gpu controlled via AMD eyefinity which makes the three monitors into one large monitor (5760x1080). I have DCS configured for one monitor and this works well for me too. Just updated to 1.5.1 467222.87 - no probs with update but take care - remember to back up all those file which may get overwritten!

Yep..:).

But seems that you are running AMD GPU with eyefinity = Nvidia Surround..funny thing that I can't get Helios to work with same.

But I'm happy now with my configuration...I can play all my games without Surround..:)

Still need to find some money to buy touch screen to get all good thing of Helios and Capt Zeens profile..:)

Hi maestro72x,

I'm pleased you're fixed too - I know how it feels when the rig ain't workin' right!

Oh, DCS - currently A-10C

Also have quite a few other DCS modules but have learned it's better to stick with one plane and really learn it rather than try to take on the world.

Sorry..my mistake...I can get Helios to work with Nvidia surround but profiles were not working.

I can't reset view in Helios when I have Surround enabled.

I needed to edit profile layout file manually via notepad to get only 2 monitors to show up at Helios.

Here is code what I needed to edit

<DocumentContent Name="Visual;Monitor 4;Helios.Monitor;Monitor 4" />
<DocumentContent Name="Interface;;Helios.FC2;Flaming Cliffs 2" />
<DocumentContent Name="Visual;Monitor 3;Helios.Monitor;Monitor 3" />
<DocumentContent Name="Visual;Monitor 2;Helios.Monitor;Monitor 2" />
<DocumentContent Name="Visual;Monitor 1;Helios.Monitor;Monitor 1" />

And edited to this..

<DocumentContent Name="Visual;Monitor 1;Helios.Monitor;Monitor 1" />
<DocumentContent Name="Interface;;Helios.FC2;Flaming Cliffs 2" />
<DocumentContent Name="Visual;Monitor 2;Helios.Monitor;Monitor 2" />

So with that editing I manage to reset views at Helios but when I started profile nothing was working on it. And when I started DCS and F15 mission no gauges will work.

But now when Surround is disabled I can reset monitors in normal way and all works fine.

Prolly I made something wrong because you have manage to get this work via eyefinity...:music_whistling:

I hope you get glue what I was trying to do...

Iku64,

I was just in full flow trying to offer some help when it suddenly occurred to me that, unlike myself, you have three screens and talking about using Helios. So, whereas I have DCS on the main three screens and a fourth screen (touchscreen) for Helios, are you trying to run DCS on two screens and Helios on your third or is all this preparatory to you getting a fourth screen like me?

I have four monitors (3pcs 1920x1200 + 1680x1050) and was trying to run those three monitors with surround. So Windows and Helios was seeing that setup as 2 monitors (1pcs 5760x1200 + 1pcs 1680x1050).

But now I have everything working just fine because I disabled surround and all 4 monitors are separate in Windows setup.

Here is picture of my "cockpit"..:)

Hi Iku64,

MOST important.... NICE Pit!

:)

I would like to help (if I can) but my system setup is different to yours so the monitor.lua I was going to send to you won't really help. So far as Helios is concerned, have you tried opening Helios and choosing the option, 'reset monitors'. This is how you tell Helios which monitor to display the profile on.

Can I ask a favour of you?

I came across an old post last night relating to CaptZeen's F-15C profile and 'how to get the radar working'... you mentioned in that thread that you had got it working.

Can you remember how you did this and did it work properly?

Sure you can...Do you mean that round ECM on right of panel? If so then I can't help because "radar" in that old thread I was trying to get work was F15's RIGHT_MFD.

--radar F-15C
RIGHT_MFCD =
