Celestiale Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) Today, after a lot of pleasant anticipation for 1.5 i had to realize, that you can't edit the .lua files anymore. That was a huge blow for me, because i used to alter the view.lua for all my planes. The reason is pretty simple. I am using TrackIR, and a Zoom-Slider, and i am not at all getting along with the zoomed-out mode. Those 140° are way to much alongside TrackIR, because when you are moving your head with this FoV, everything around you is just a distorted mess. In a dogfight that is deadly, because when the environment, parts of the plane etc. are constantly visually moving and bending around, it's impossible for me to keep track of the target. Because of that i used to limit the Max FoV in the view.lua files from 140 to around 90, where the Fish-eye effect stops, and the game looks natural. Now after downloading 1.5, at first i altered the view.lua in the savegames, like the txt file in the config folder told me to do. Nothing happened in game, still Fisheye. After that i altered it in the game folder. Still no effect in the game at all. Please Devs, let us at least alter this view.lua. Bad enough that you can't change the FoV in game. But making it impossible to alter it in the lua kills the game for me, right now. And i was so much looking forward to 1.5... Edited October 3, 2015 by Celestiale

Northstar98 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I still am able to alter .lua files when I edit default camera positions - so when I center my Track IR it centers where I want it - just make sure you edit .lua files in administrator mode - I use notepad++ as it's a little easier. Lennoxonnell Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 all you have to do is drag the .lua to your desktop, edit it, then drag it back to the folder. ez pz Ryzen 1700 @ 3.7ghz | GTX 960 | 16gb Crucial Ballistix F/A-18C | Ka-50 | FC3 | A-10C | P-51D | UH-1H Youtube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Celestiale Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 all you have to do is drag the .lua to your desktop, edit it, then drag it back to the folder. ez pz Thx that worked. What irritated me, was that i could edit the .lua inside the game folder, but it didn't have any effect in the game. When i dragged it onto the Desktop, i saw the original value, and not the one, i edited. I guess the values you see inside the game folder are just placeholders, to keep people from editing. Thanks a lot!

Especially with this extension: https://sourceforge.net/projects/nppsaveasadmin/ This makes Notepad++ ask for admin privileges whenever it needs them to save a file. Much more practical than starting notepad as admin and opening the files after that. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
