Here's a request that I had for the longest time, and I think with EDGE it should now be possible to be implemented.

Please move the camera center for the F2 view to a person's eye-level. I believe this would be far more immersive than it is now, simply because it would be "as seen from a person standing next to the plane", rather, as it is now, further above that person's head.

Please see the attached screenshot to help visualize the idea.

I believe in previous DCS releases, the older engine would have caused some clipping, that is, the camera would have revealed some textures underneath the tarmac, however, with EDGE I believe this isn't the case anymore.

Thanks.

It doesn't really make sense to change the F2 view. It's not supposed to be a person's eye view and in fact there is a first person view if you eject.

Changing the F11 restrictions on how close you can get to the ground makes more sense to me. Although I guess changing the ground proximity restriction could go for all cameras, not just F11.

I believe (could be completely wrong) the camera is centered on the center of gravity of the plane you're flying. Wether that's actually the case or not i wouldnt like to see it changed. But as an extra option sure why not.

rrohde ... I can see the appeal of a POV from a pilot on the ground. It would also be great to walk around the aircraft.

It is a good idea for a mod. If only head tracking worked for Combined Arms units :noexpression: I could make a unit that would give you a truly virtual view of a light mechanic or pilot on the ground.

Thank for the feedback guys.

I can see now that F2 would be the wrong choice, since it's aircraft centric. Thanks for pointing that out.

On the other hand, maybe a dedicated "walk around camera" would do - without having to eject first. So, while still on the ground, or after landing, give us a "first person view" camera that would allow us to zip around the aircraft using WASD style controls - while never leaving "eye-level" height.
