No offence, but I don't have realplayer, and don't have any plans on installing it.

Hmmm well gosh i'm so sorry but i wish i could have had my Divx Movie Codec working but for some reason i try to render it in that codec with Adobe Prememre pro the finished product doesnt match up with music and all the video is distorted.

Guys,

I too abhor RealPlayer and had in the past vowed many times to uninstall it and never, ever use it again. A few months ago a need to play .rm files motivated me to search for alternatives, and although I didn't find the Real Alternative mentioned above, I did find this: apparently RealNetworks makes a stripped-down, little-publicized version of RealPlayer called Enterprise, intended for machines that want minimum overhead in their player. Their description is:

"RealPlayer Enterprise gives you the best of RealPlayer you know and use at home, but without advertising, without requiring registration, and without consumer features that don’t belong in the workplace."

I found a link from a blog that researched alternatives to RealPlayer; all you have to do is fill out this short form (I'm sure Phil McCracken and his friends are worthy downloaders):

http://www.realnetworks.com/products/rpe/index.html

I've had it for months now, never had any problems playing anything, and haven't noticed any of the usual crap that RealPlayer brings along with it.

Bink and Smacker make a video conversion tool that will allow you to convert a video to any codec you want, as long as the codec is on your system. (it's fairly cheap). Though I can't remember what its called.
