I think we really do need a benchmarking mode.

Something that would replay either a static view or a scripted flyby on rails that would allow us to tweak and test our settings to see what effect the changes made to FPS etc..

If it is just for testing of settings on your personal machine you can just record a track and play it. When you play a track everything is actually simulated, just with a prerecorded set of inputs.

The huey instant action missions (target practice and ground targets) get you to shooting and explosions pretty quickly. After you are done press "Save track" on the debriefing screen and save your track. You can play your track using the replay option on the main menu.

I like this idea, if only to see which rig setup runs DCS best.

My Rig: EVGA GTX 1070 x 2 | EVGA x58 SLI classified | i7 X 990 CPU | 24 GB RAM | Windows 10 Home 64 bit| Track IR Pro | CH Fighter Stick | CH Throttle | CH Pro Pedals |

Record a track, then play it. No dev time required.

Yes, I'm aware of using tracks but it's not ideal, that's just a workaround.

If we had a dedicated option that would play through a simple pre-scripted scenario that also contained accurate benchmark stats at the end it could be used not only to improve my system but also give indications to other people about their rig setup etc.. For example, if I knew object count was a factor in my rendering speed, I'd lower the clutter/draw distance etc.. What about my AA setting, is that affecting my frames etc.. Could I sacrifice some image quality for performance. All of this is possible using tracks but again it's not the right tool for the job.

Cheers.

The community could agree on two Benchmarking tracks quite easily.

1. Lots of AI units doing specific things to test CPU

2. A track with a lot of static objects to test GPU

Some just has to make these missions and record the tracks and upload here :)
