Bunyap Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Here is a short Instant Action mission in the Flaming Cliffs 3 Su-25 Frogfoot. There are vehicles moving along the road and we are tasked with taking them out. Here is a short MiG-21 video as well, too short really to deserve its own thread. Enjoy. :) 2
pepin1234 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Hey Bunyap nice videos buddy! I love the Frogfoot. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Neon67 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Nice video, however i a m not sure you need the laser unless using guided weapons or am I mistaking ?
Witchking Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Nice video, however i a m not sure you need the laser unless using guided weapons or am I mistaking ? I imagine so as well. Unless it is riding a laser beam..there is no point for the laser designator? Unguided rockets like S-5 or S-8 / unguided bombs like the Fab-100s etc don't need the laser IMO. Neon67 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 maybe he is mistaking it for turning on the electro optic system
Bunyap Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 It is for ranging information so the sight knows the slant range to the target and where ground level is. Please check the manual at page 280-281. Did you guys watch the whole thing? I mentioned why I did it twice. :)
Neon67 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 My bad then sorry , i thought it was a separate device, one for target range, and another laser beam for guided rockets
Bunyap Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 You know, I think the real one has different "modes" for ranging and designation but I can't find any good sources. Somebody is bound to chime in that it works fine without turning it on but I'll trust the manual until I find something better. No right or wrong way to do it though as long as it works...

Funny enough, it doesn't seem to behave the same way in the Su-25T. Personally, I think it's an oversight.
pepin1234 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 The laser on with unguided wapons is better for accuracy ballistic calculation. Bunyap do well using laser on in the video. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
