Pikey Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I've measured this a few times in the last few days, but on an empty server with no moving ground units but 3 or 4 air defenses only there is a memory leak of approximately 200MB an hour. This equates to not making it to 24hours before needing a game client kill for an 8MB machine. I'm not sure how I can quantify this for the purposes of bug tracking, At this stage awareness might be all that's required. I suspect it's known about, it's certainly more than 1.2, which didn't have anything leaking noticeably. I realise it's not really worth commenting on the multiplayer server as it's not finished, but thought it should be mentioned. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
lanmancz Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 It's not just in multiplayer. I've seen several times even in singleplayer (when creating a mission so I start and stop a lot) that windows just terminate all my running applications due to lack of memory (I have 16GB). Normally DCS takes aboud 2-3GB but I've seen it also taking more than 6 and counting quite rapidly which required restart of the application to not get out of hand and be killed by windows again. HiJack Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) If you in singleplayer set up the aircraft controlled by "Pilot" then there is a massive memory leak. If you change the aircraft controlled to "Client" then everything is fine. EDIT: I don't have memory leak on my test servers that run on hosts with real GPU installed. Headless servers is almost impossible to have stable. Edited October 8, 2015 by HiJack
dabomb Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Our dedicated server leaks badly in 1.5. DCS.exe will eat all of the available RAM (16GB total) in about 4 hours or so with 4-8 users on and off during that time. All aircraft are set to "client". Never had this issue in 1.2.
104th_Maverick Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Anyone got any plotter data they can submit so we can give it to the Devs? It would really help to get things moving if we could get the hard numbers from your server/s. Can any of you set up a way to record your Memory usage increasing? I offer myself to run a server this weekend with memory profiling so the issue can be traced down. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
104th_Maverick Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Perfect! Please post some details up and I will direct as many people as I can to that server! codefox Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) Sadly I'm unable to use a usual memory profiler with DCS as it's detecting debuggers using Kernel32's IsDebuggerPresent function to prevent debuggers from being attached to DCS. I can bypass this check but I'm not quite sure whether I could run a public server like that. Gotta get up some of my more heavy weaponry. :) Luckily, I was also able to detect a major memory leak while playing on a server while being alone. About 1gb of memory leaked during a flight from Sochi to Gudauta. I'll further investigate this issue and report on any findings I made. Edited October 9, 2015 by codefox [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
