Stonehouse Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Trying to think outside the square with the issue with CAP flights not following waypoints properly and was thinking to try setting them up to have a spawn waypoint and then a orbit waypoint in their cap zone. So I have been in the M-E trying to set up orbit waypoints but so far don't seem to be able to get anything else other than a circle in the drop down list. Even for a KC135 which I could have sworn had the ability to fly a racetrack orbit in DCS. Is there a trick I am missing to make it accessible? Seems to be the same in 1.2.16 and 1.5 beta
Grimes Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Add a waypoint after the one you want to assign as an orbit. The next waypoint is used as the other anchor point for the orbit. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. WildBillKelsoe Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 so to have them orbit a large area (100 km X 100 km) do I set a square and add orbit in each one's properties ending with last corner of square waypoint without orbit perform task? AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Stonehouse Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 I believe (from what I've seen) that the waypoint where you declare the orbit and the next waypoint forms the long axis of the racetrack and you can't define the width. Generally it seems to work pretty well so far for me though.
