Bunyap Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Here is a new look at the Oculus Rift in DCS: World 1.5. I fly missions in the Ka-50 Black Shark and A-10 Warthog discussing the good and bad points of the experience as I go. Enjoy. :)
wormeaten Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Good educational video especially for us who don't have any VR and need any details before we decide to go with WR or large screen monitor or what ever. My question is did you try alternative with head tracking? According to some sources you can use Oculus as headtracking hardware in opentrack software but in that case head tracking should work as trackIR with zoom and non 1:1 head movement. You should try it. You got oculus and opentrack is freeware. You just need some time to play with it but benefit could be fixing all the problems you mention in this video.
Brisse Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Good video. Exactly what I needed. I'm really interested in recent development in VR, but I don't want to be the kind of early adopter that goes out and gets the Rift dev kits. Looking forward to CV1 in a few months hopefully, and if the reactions are as good then as in this video, I'm probably going to try it out for myself :)
Chivas Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 @Bunjap....did you try the new option to increase the size of distant aircraft and targets, and does it help spotting aircraft in VR? I doubt we will have a problem reading gauges with the CV1's new dual higher resolution custom Samsung VR displays. I would imagine they will have VR enhanced pixel, sub-pixel arrangements, with less space between pixels. Combined with an Oculus custom lenses, and optimized optic software the perceived resolution might be good enough for distant objects aswell.

Rez is still too low i think, because 110degree fov, but im still first one to buy CV1. Hell, back in early 90's i was happy with 320x240 rez in simulators :D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oculus CV1, Odyssey, Pimax 5k+ (i5 8400, 24gb ddr4 3000mhz, 1080Ti OC ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
