rami80 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 When engaging ECM can an F-15 still use TWS? What I understand is that is not possible, however after burn through it seems like the eagle can lock a jamming Su with TWS, not sure though.
pepin1234 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 If the TWS of the F-15 work in the search and engage mode with ECM I don't know. The best you can do when you get into 25km you switch off the ECM and shut him at the same time make a dive with angle 50 to the side. This maneuver should make miss the engage mode of the TWS. The Aim-120 gone be a miss in this case. Should work like that. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
DrDetroit Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Don't AIM-120s have Home-on-Jam (HOJ) ability? I believe it does...can't remember, been awhile since I fired a slammer from the F-15 (LOMAC era) or the F-16C (F4BMS). Good Day. DrDetroit

That's why is better set ECM off in your Su/Mig when get into Aim-120 range or combat range. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rami80 Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 But isn't an HOJ way less accurate than a usual TWS shot? The missile will have worse guidance in pure pursuit.
TAW_Blaze Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 SPJ of that technology isn't even supposed to be able to jam any kind of search radar including TWS as far as I know. The whole ECM system should be deleted, it's a joke at best. It's also ludicrous that it just default jams everything indefinitely outside burnthrough.
