chrno120 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Just wondering, how do you people manage to evade a missile at close range? :) just preparing for the worst scenario if all of my missiles had gone missed.. The most stupid member in the forum
nscode Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 You can avoid them by pressing Ctrl E E E. :=) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Kula66 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 If you get to WVR then you've made a mistake - so don't get there!
Force_Feedback Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 If you get to WVR then you've made a mistake - so don't get there! Well, I consider anything other than gunzo BVW, so hitting soemthing at 10km is BVR for me as well. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
GGTharos Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Just wondering, how do you people manage to evade a missile at close range? :) just preparing for the worst scenario if all of my missiles had gone missed.. Lots of decoys (chaff/flare) and jink. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
nscode Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 If you get to WVR then you've made a mistake - so don't get there! So what is a bigger mistake then: geting to WVR and knowing what to do then or being shot down at BVR? :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
dynamocl Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 My A-10 is poor at BVR, kepping low and luring the online pilots closer to WVR and then throwing a sidewinder at them without them knowing, (while giggling like a school girl) then watching them spiral down in their "built for CAP" plane that got killed by the "made for CAS" plane... anyway, getting something within visual range is not a mistake, its a tactic. Anyway, to avoid, you need to make the missile do the most work, while keeping your plane flying. Keep it at 3 or 9 oclock etc, counter measures. Climb or descend, make that missile move around (if it stays fixed in a point on your canopy, it is likely to hit). Practise, practise, practise i'm affraid
DPS Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 About 3 minutes into this BVR video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1040692412108441424 an enemy F-4 fired a missile at me from about 2 miles (things don't always work out as planned). You can see that the result of pulling-up with the missile in my 3 o'clock and firing off some chaff/flares saved the day.
Kula66 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 So what is a bigger mistake then: geting to WVR and knowing what to do then or being shot down at BVR? :) True .. either: (a) turn and run before getting into WVR (b) get a missile heading toward his face! Keep him defensive.
