Trying to rule out whether it's me being stupid with the -87s or a possible performance issue.

Target: column of 10 unarmored trucks

CBU87: Ripple 4, 250' spacing 500' BA (I always leave RPM default; no idea what it does)

The majority of the column was peppered with bomblets, but despite this only 4 hits were registered and no vehicles were destroyed. Track attached.

RPM stands for revolutions per minute. in Real life the weapon spins very fast in order to disperse the bomblets. Cluster bombs are taxing enough on your system as they are so they just look like they are falling straight. The spreading of bomblets is still simulated by setting the RPM though. I cannot look at your track right now but since you say it is a column, you mag go for a lower RPM to make the bomblets spread less.

Check my F-15C guide

default -87 settings are next to useless, cut both HOF and RPM in half and you have a useful bomb. if you haven't done that you're just seeing the result of the default settings, the result being basically nothing but a gridsquare of tiny explosions that result in no real damage to anything save a few patches of dirt.
