Rotor Flapping sound maybe wrong ?

Hello,

Could be wrong about it, but sinds 1.5 the flapping sound of the rotorblades seem reversed.

I mean, often when i lower the collective the real flapping sound starts to come up.

Even with autorotation (Rotor RPM in the green), there is that heavy sound.

It seems to me, that the rotorblades ought to make more sound with high blade angles and absorbing high torque.

And that the sound should reduce with lower blade angles when they absorb lesser torque.

Am i correct or am i missing something here ??

The rotor blade noise in the sim is actually pretty accurate now in 1.5.

Taken from a thread on the airtalk.org forums:

The blade slapping noise is caused by the a blade hitting the wake turbulence from the blade before it. The effect is amplified when you're descending between 50 and 80 knots. I use it to tell my wife I'm on my way home as I fly over the house.

In an OGE hover you can actually use the sound to tell you if your altitude is changing. The system is the most quiet when you're altitude is the totally stable, and any downward change causes a pretty dramatic increase in the sound.

Great story about the communication with the wife..

And on top of that..the explanation of the blade hitting the wake of the preceeding blade sounds logical.

So..i say

Don't change thing.....great sim.!!

Nice explanation indeed ;-)

But I also noticed weird stuff regarding default Huey sound in 1.5... As P3CFE said, the flapping FX's seems from the reversed logic..
