I know a Vegas-created lens flare when i see one, and all those lens flares were added during editing. I don't quite buy it when you say "its a patch".

169th_Mustang

have to ask this, is this lens flare some kind of LOMAN addon?

KIVI21

No,it was just a joke It is effect added in editing program.

Glowing_Amraam! You can't be wrong!

Excellent video. Looks like you put a lot of time and effort into the project. What sort of editor did you use? I liked the shuddering effect in the close up with reheat.

Bombing vehicles: I found one way to improve the Lock On smoke effect is to set the surface wind to max. That way you don't get those odd little plumes rising above the target as it burns.

I'd quite forgotten the object rotation (F2 SHIFT Esc) command. Must read the keystrokes manual again.

Anyway, good work. 10/10.

Thanks!

It took us 4 days to render screenshots from LO, and 2 days on editing in Vegas.

Damn, this movie rocks - music (me like electro/d&b/techno very mucho) , editing, those commie style graphics, everything, even lens-flares are great (imho)

Man, today this forum just rocks - so many great contributions i can hardly keep up. I haven't done anything useful today, just jumping from one post to another - i'm gonna get sacked :chair:

The movie was recorded in-game ofcourse as a numbered screenshots. In this way you've got better quality, and you are out of codec problem.

That what you saw was in 640*480 only, i have better version with better colours but i wanted to watch this movie by as many people as possible. That is why this movie exist on internet in two versions 16 and 89 MB. I think that 100MB is a limit for 9min movie, size of my private version is 2GB!!! 1280*1024 in best colours and music quality, believe me it's whole different!

If you have more questions you're very welcome:)

Hi KIVI21,

thanks for your quick reply.

I am asking about recording because lots of people use FRAPS for recording (see AMRAAMS settings with recording in FRAPS 25 fps, half screen, 1280x1024 resolution in-game and speeding up later while editing) but of course your movie with ingame recording got great quality!

Probably took days to record :-) because ingame is so slow.

VIDEO METHOD was full frames (uncompressed)? no codec ?

What was your QUALITY SETTING, AUDIO METHOD and QUALITY ?

How many FRAMES, RESOLUTION and what ASPECT RATIO?

I am REALLY impressed by that quality that's why I ask all that details. I am also working on my first movie but I am still unsure about using FRAPS or ingame capturing.

Any helpful and experienced advise is very welcome!

Thanks for your reply.

Greetings

krel01

Thank You very much! Everyone comments are appreciated!

About the story line: We had an idea to create the picture of Su-27 like in documentary film. Just it! But thing that totally close subject up could be the narration. Indeed, building movie on a story line is better solution. Work in progress with new project. But can't wait to do this in BS.

About the music choice: It's easy to paste the Soundtrack because most of people like it. Soundtracks build an attention. I agree to place in the feature film but then You have to keep close to it. But real courage is to do what we've done - pasting electro in the background, no story line. We have nothing to shame of. It's our choice, ofcourse KIVI21 found that and convinced me. I don't complain.

Chciałbym także podziękować polskim towarzyszom :P za wsparcie i ciepłe słowa. Jak mawiał jeden z naszych poetów: "Polacy nie gęsi i swój język mają!". Serdecznie pozdrawiam shamandgg, Kusch i Echo0311!

Amazing Video. One of the best right up there with Locsta's and Amraam's videos. Loved the use of in-focus out-focus editing. The scene at 2:06 thru 2:14 (liked the way the tilted camera followed the two-flight through the clouds. Good job on the tight formations, BTW), 2:58 thru 3:00 (high speed out-focus pass), 4:08 thru 4:29 (great use of camera shake, zoom, and out/in-focus editing. I liked how you followed it the whole way through), 5:05 thru 5:18 (reminded me of an eagle I once watched hunting for salmon), 5:23 thru 5:35 (watching from the ground while the missile curved in over my head was great), and 6:45 thru 7:03 (opening on a heat wave and following with quick zoom shots of spooling up was a nice touch) were my absolute favorites. The credits were put together nicely as well. I liked how the atmosphere transitioned from mostly cloudy shots at the beginning to mostly clear shots in the middle and back again to mostly cloudy shots at the end. It helped add to the sense of transition from opening to action to closing.:worthy: I want more.

Neodark: The song at the end was by Pink Floyd. Not sure what album it was though...It wasn't electro/techno. It was actually classic rock. As for Shaman and his "cheap rock"...:bash: for you Shaman. :disgust:

Nice movie guys! Very-very impressive!

I've one question. How did you record the headmove of the pilot? Because if you record a track (of your flight; or if you was client, you don't have F4 view with other planes), your head doesn't move when you play the track... Pls tell me!:-D Thx!

You didn't understand him. Cheap he didn't mean Pink Floyd ofcourse but something like Linking Park I think, most likely used for background by many editors. It just doesn't fit some times.

NeoDark said - uh, where can I get that secons song? (Chris Raven - I know you love me too)

its awesome...

That track is quite old now (1998?). It is from a Sasha and John Digweed compilation CD called "Northern Exposure: Expeditions" on the Ultra US Label, catalog number CDUTA 001040.

(They released a series of Northern Exposure CD's, you would want the Expeditions one, hence I quoted the catalog number). Best online mail order places in the UK would be http://www.htfr.com or http://www.juno.co.uk, dunno about elsewhere in the world.

Good stuff

Very atmospheric which i like alot.

only criticisms are that lens flare looked awesome at first then a little over done near to the end

and the camera shudders as soon as the bomb goes off - should be a delay :P

good work!

I've watched the video a few more times and I'd say that the music/sound effects really make the movie stand out in a class of it's own. I'm still using Lock On with its original sounds - did you use one of the add-on sound packs or did you dub effects into the audio line in the editor? The sound of the Su-27s jet efflux is just awesome. Again, well done.

We dub effects in the editor. Sounds are cut from avi. Thank You, again :)

OOh by the way just remembered an awesome seen - the flanker is on the taxi way (near end of the film i guess) but if you look at the intakes you can see flickers like sparks coming from inside the engine - that just a glitch or an awesome affect you added? (you may choose the latter for self pride if you wish :P)

just caught my eye and wondered if it was meant to be - do planes do that?

great movie guys!

A suggestion for the lense flare would be to change the diameter of the flare as the angle and position change. Sometimes it looked like it was just a screen shot of lense flare layered over the video rather than a integral effect.

is this ok?
