In my opinion, audio is perfectly fine in DCS. It has good support for multichannel surround and that's all you need to spatialize audio. That SDK you are linking won't work for DCS, but you won't need it either.

Many sound cards have features in their drivers that will let you specialize the audio for headphone use. It works regardless if you are using the rift or not.

Personally I have an Asus Xonar Esscence STX, and this is how to enable it on Xonar cards:

Set to 8 channels

Activate Dolby Surround

Launch DCS

Enjoy

When I'm done with DCS I go back and set it to 2 channels and deactivate Dolby Surround so it doesn't mess up the sound when I want to listen to music or other 2 channel sources.

Edit: Of course, this method has some limitations compared to having HRTF built directly into the game engine, but it's pretty good anyway. The biggest disadvantage is that you can only differentiate left-right-front-back, and not up-down.

LIke you said.

Im supporting this too, as mentioned in the "Binaural sound or HRTF" thread earlier  We should wait for the new sound API, mentioned by Wags, and hope :smilewink:
