bin801 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I like those scratch on cockpit windshield. it will show silk-like reflection under sun shine. But I lost them. both for FC3 SU-27 and MIG-21. But I can see it on FC3's F-15. Is there any advanced setting need to be check to activate those scratches? Thanks I like those scratches, they can be seen only in DCS

KansasCS Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Please don't fix it! Bad for spotting! Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
Farlander Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I vote for less scratches! It looks like somebody washed my canopy with sand-paper. Some scratches are ok, but not this many.

zaelu Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I never saw those as scratches in DCS... more like cracks in the canopy class that are visible only at some angle or Gs. Like the canopy bends under stress revealing them more. I like them. bin801 Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 Rendering bug currently. Hopefully we can fix it later. Thanks Hope you can fix it. More or less , like or dislike depending on different people, but it is real !! Good or not good for shooting should be considered after reality. Because real really makes DCS different from all of the other simulations.

Yes, as you said, it is highly possible not caused by cleaning scratches. I don't think those are scratchs. But I don't know what is the name. So I use an incorrect name try to describ it.:smilewink: I keep this question for long time. Maybe some friend in forum can answer, What are those? Is there a common name for it? What cause that? Thanks
Bogey Jammer Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 A pic or video of the real thing would be interesting, because my visual interpretation of this tells me this is spider web… I'll buy : МиГ-23МЛД & МЛА МиГ-27К МиГ-25 Mirage III F-4E any IJ plane 1950' Korea Dynamic campaign module
Oldguy Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) A pic or video of the real thing would be interesting, because my visual interpretation of this tells me this is spider web… The slight distortions seen in the canopy when viewed from the pilot's p.o.v. could have resulted from several sources, and are not all from the same effect, even though they may give very similar appearances. Most modern canopies are made of various forms of acrylics. The surface, or internal structure, of such canopies can be damaged by improper or hasty cleaning (scratching), protection by covers over slightly dirty surfaces (abrasion), heat-cold cycling (stress), ultraviolet radiation damage (chemical) or the use of improper cleaning material damage (hazing), among others. They appear to the pilot to be much the same, but can result from several different sources of damage to the canopy material. Because the source of such visual distortion damage varies, their appearance and likelihood of successful repair likewise varies. I searched for images, and found a variety, which varied slightly from one example to the next, depending upon the source of damage. Spider-web appearance suggests an impact form of damage.
