What is the function of aileron hydro boosters switch + No flap HOTAS controls

as above?

Also, the flaps can not be mapped in TMWH. I think it did (been a long time since I flew the MiG), only F and LShift+F via keyboard.

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

For ur key maping problem there is a solution somewhere in this section. For the aileron boosters. I am not professional but this switch needs to be in the up position i think its ment for high speed use of ailerons like it adds more hydraulic pressure to it..not a mechanic sorry :-X

Are you asking about the hydrobooster switch function in real life or you´re just talking about button mapping?

no the real life use. Like what it does. I think the entire left wall deserves a chapter of its own as its the guts of that craft.

About the aileron hydro bosters:

A common problem with most airframes is that at high speeds (usually close to mach 1 or above) the stick force required to move the ailerons increases to a point where they just lock up, leaving the plane without roll controll.

Therfore, aircraft designed to go faster than mach 1 have to use a system to help out the pilot. In case of the MiG-21 the hydraulic aileron boosters help out.

thanks John. It makes sense.

It seems that with aileron booster off, ailerons can't be controled at all, at any speed.

That shouldn't be the case though. At slow speeds they should pretty much like normal.

Only flight control relying on hydraulics is the stabalizer, and that has a backup pump to work in the case of a hydraulics failure.

Wrong, except the rudder, all the other flight controls in the MiG-21 are hydraulically operated.

no the real life use. Like what it does.
The switch command two GA-190 electro-valves, one per system (main and emergency system, also know as booster system). They cut the hydraulic pressure that both systems send to the BU-45A actuators.

In the case of the pilot this switch is only used in the event of an emergency when because of some failure or damage the ailerons hydraulics are lost, so he can manually operate them.

So, if there´s no problem, a pilot should always fly with this switch in its connected position.

So far, this is not modeled in DCS.

Thanks for the info, OverStratos!

Strange, if I start the Mig with the booster off, I can move the ailerons. But once I turn it on and off, I can't any more. I'm not sure if this is working as intended.

Also, since this topic mentions the Flap HOTAS mapping. Since the most recent update, the flap mapping is fixed.

There are now 2 options. You can assign a key/switch for each flap position (retracted/25 deg/45 deg) or a key/switch for flap retract and flap extension. I like the new option to extend or retract in steps - works great with the TM Warthog.

I am really disappointed.

I was hoping that Aileron Hydro Booster was some sort of special propulsion system used in the case of emergency water landings. ;)
