Jacks Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I have been having issues where by if I look in a certain direction, the FPS drops from its normally solid 60 (locked at 60) to down as low as 20. I have used the in game info and it seems that my FPS drops when the number of objects goes above 1500 and around 2000 results in 25 FPS. Is this normal since on some servers the number of visual object regularly goes above 2500? I have also noticed that the VRAM usage is 4Gb when I start a game and everytime I disconnect and restart the VRAM accumulates instead of resetting and so after a few games my VRAM reaches 16Gb! Does that mean we all need buy Titans? I terms of system RAM, DCS is running at about 8Gb which seems very high. Also my GPU is being ran at 50% usage but 100% VRAM usage most of the time. Is there anything I do to let my system view more objects without the significant FPS drop? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. droopy114 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Hi, it's a know bug, memory leak. I have: *i5 4670K (OC to 4.4 ghz) *Asus GTX 970 4Gb *8Gb RAM 2133 Mhz *Windows 10 I have the same issue that you describe, Vram will slowly but certainly increasing, making the game stuttering like crazy and finally crash. I temporary fix this by increasing the Windows Page File, original was about 8Gb and i set it to 20Gb, as recommended by others users. With this, i'm able to play multiplayer for 2 hours without crashing. In addition, enable both flat shadows options, and decrease the preload radius (i set mine to 80 000), hope it help you.
Jacks Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 Thanks when the gpu runs out of VRAM does it then use ram or pagefile on the hard drive? rrohde Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Thanks when the gpu runs out of VRAM does it then use ram or pagefile on the hard drive? IIRC, it uses RAM next. droopy114 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 If i understand correctly how it work: Vram>RAM>Page File
Jacks Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) Is anyone else experiencing low FPS with around 1500 visable objects or is this low? droopy114 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I don't have this issue with objects, i've played on different servers but i notice one thing: if civillian traffic is enable, then yes it will drop my FPS and speed up the RAM usage, but with only statics objects/units/others players FPS are fine for me.
DoctorStrop Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 OP you're not alone, I have had a sudden frame rate drop. Haven't had a fly about since probably last Tuesday, but have installed a new NVidia driver update, and yesterday when I tried to load up there was a installer update for DCS. Now it's like OP states, progressively worsening FPS. I have tried the repair tool, so I guess a memory leak? I know my sig say's 12Gb, but that machine burned out, and my current machine is only running with 8Gb RAM. Smooooooth flying until yesterday :( Windows 10 64bit, Intel i7 6700K, 32GB Corsair 2400Mhz, 970 NVMe 500Gb SSD, GeForce 2080 super, HP Reverb, VKB GF PRO, Thrustmaster Warthog throttle, Thrustmaster Pendular rudders, Windows + DCS  My youtube channel

Also notice that preload radius, trees and grass rendering distance can eat your RAM if set to max.
Jacks Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Droopy thanks. I am not concerned by the RAM usage as I don't play for more than two hours at a time. I am concerned that only multiplayer the other day I flew with a friend who had a very similar setup (same cpu speed and a 960 instead of a 770) and near identical settings but when we were next to each I was getting a choppy 30-40 FPS when looking in certain direction while he was maintaining a buttery smooth 60 FPS. I saw post where OP have FPS drops when looking mountains or forests. For the mountains i don't know, but for the forests shadows Mustang released a mod: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2495081&postcount=7 It's a strange thing, some ppl are FPS drop, others no with similar rig.... computer mystery....
