Hey gang,

Ok so I have been playing around with these modes, and reading the manual. I am apparently missing something here.

I have been flying the Convoy single mission. No problem using the DH mode with the autopilot. The chopper follows the course through each waypoint no problem.

So I thought I would try DT just to see the difference, well I set the button from DH to DT, and then the chopper does not turn at the waypoint, it just keeps on going on the heading it is on.

Based on the below, it seemed to me the chopper should still follow the waypoints. What am I missing here?

Thanks for any tips,

When approaching the next WP in DT mode, a linear lead turn is estimated in such a way that prior to reaching the WP an automatic turn is initiated to intercept the next track of the route. In DH mode on the other hand, the turn begins when the WP is passed. In both DT and DH modes, the "ППМ РАЗВОРОТ" (Turn to the next waypoint) light will illuminate a hundred meters prior to turn initiation. The automatic turn is then initiated toward the next WP with bank angle no more than 15°. When the turn is initiated, the current navigation route data is replaced by the data of the next track in the route. 5° prior to reaching the new heading, the "ППМ РАЗВОРОТ" (Turn to the next waypoint) light goes off and the heading is automatically corrected in accordance to the current location of the helicopter at the end of the turn and drift angle.

One thing to check is you haven't moved the switch into the neutral position by mistake. It's a 3-position switch and for DT it needs to be down.

Thanks guys, been away this week for the holiday and just returned, I will check these suggestions out as soon as I can get back into the cockpit ( likely Monday).

Ok finally getting back to this - got sidetracked there for a while with 2.0 and some Nevada flying...

You were correct, in that I had been putting into the middle position, so I made sure I had it all the way back for the DT position, and tried it again.

But still , in Course Mode, the chopper just continues to fly in a straight line, right past the waypoint and never making the turn. It is my understanding it should calculate a linear lead turn and start executing it prior to reaching the waypoint. The next waypoint light does illuminate on the overhead panel, but nothing happens as far as turning.

I am sure I am missing something simple here, but can't seem to figure out what. Currently only in DH does it execute the turn and continue on the course. If I enable Course Mode while in the DT position, the chopper just flies in a straight line at whatever heading it is pointed at when setting course mode, and continues on that line regardless.

There's a 3way toggle switch underneath the NAV toggle on the RHS, can't remember its name. Set it to middle setting for gyro. Had same puzzle until, I flipped that, now DT will allow AP to follow route. Don't forget to select waypoint 1 on the navigation panel buttons.

You sir are da man!

I would have never figured that one out, sure enough that worked!

The name of that button is "MH".

Now at least I know it can work, and will no longer be puzzled by why it was not.

Thanks,

If I'm in doubt I click stuff and hope. It's not like I die for real (pride maybe) when I crash :D

LOL, that must have been how you found that, cause even after your post and my trying it to see it works, I did a search throughout the manual for that MH button, and saw no information on it, nor could I find any information on needing to do anything like that in order to use DT mode.

I was just wondering this morning how in the world you stumbled across that!

I guess most folks just use the default DH mode and never really checked that out. I like to check things out as I read about them and see if maybe I like one better. I will likely end up just using the DH mode anyway, but good to know now how to make DT work.
