Frosty Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) hello yall. after several years of faffing around i have finally gotten around to starting 3D modeling. this is the list of aircraft i reckon i would like to bring to DCS world at some point after uni, not in order. : Sukhoi Su-22m4 (FRG) : Blackburn Buccaneer S.2D : Sepecat Jaguar GR1A : Kamov Ka-29TB: ATE Mi.24 Super-hind Mk.III : Northrop T.38 Talon edit: special modules: 1: advanced Ground crew: animated rearming, refueling and generator power. all modeled in game for both NATO and RU. I am working on a model of the Su-22. this is how much i have done so far. disclaimer: i am a student so it wont be the best quality nor will i be able to do the FM. i will not be bringing any of these aircraft to DCS for the foreseeable future. Xeno426 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 would love to see the su-22m4. . . even if it is only AI. :-) and definitely buy it! How does it differ externally from the Su-17M4?
Vinc_Vega Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 As far as I know the most modifications of the Su-17M4 are implemented into the export variant (Su-22M4). Therefore no external deviations should be seen in 3D. Maybe some inlets differ (to be confirmed). Regards, Vinc real life: Royal Bavarian Airforce online: VJS-GermanKnights.de [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frosty Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Not at all . It's just the export version [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If the MWS didn't see it. it never happened"
Frosty Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 anyone know what the bump on the top and the poles poking over the nose are? the mig21 has them too, [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If the MWS didn't see it. it never happened"
Xeno426 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) The poles are pitot tubes. I'm not sure about the blisters; they probably hide things like aerials and the radar altimeter. Edited November 24, 2015 by Xeno426

Vinc_Vega Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) If you mean the green rectangular "bumb" on the top, thats just the housing of the navigation system's antenna. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7576/15678665071_95f3688685_c.jpg Btw. all panels that have this "special green" color are antenna covers/housings (eg. nose cone and top of the fin). Vectury Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 hello yall. (...) this is the list of aircraft i reckon i could realistically bring to DCS world at some point after uni, (probably) in order. 1: Sukhoi Su-22m4 (FRG) 2: Blackburn Buccaneer S.2D 3: Sepecat Jaguar GR1A 4: Kamov Ka-29TB 5: ATE Mi.24 Super-hind Mk.III (...) Personally, I'd be very interested in the first three you mentioned, in that particular order. I wish you all the best and good luck with developing them! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] -- i7 4790K -- Club 3D R9 290X Royal Ace SOC -- Asus Maximus VII Ranger -- G.Skill Trident X 16GB DDR3-2400 CL10 -- Gelid Tranquillo rev.2 -- Corsair RM850 -- Corsair 760T White -- Windows 10

theGozr Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Humm great !! but I think some are already at work by some team .. Great to have.. Fly it like you stole it..
Frosty Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 Is someone doing the F-5/E tiger II? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If the MWS didn't see it. it never happened"
lokodehortaleza Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Is someone doing the F-5/E tiger II? Belsimtek is doing the F-5E.
Frosty Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 how am I doing to do this... because between the strange lines at the front and the merge lines between the intake and fuselage I feel very much out of my depth. but also the really shit blueprint drawings don't ****ing help [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If the MWS didn't see it. it never happened"
Vinc_Vega Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) You should model fuselage, canopy/spine and engines as separate parts. Look at the pictures below. Edit: use these drawings as backgrounds in max http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw/t38.html http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw2/t38_z.html Edited November 28, 2015 by Vinc_Vega Regards, Vinc real life: Royal Bavarian Airforce online: VJS-GermanKnights.de [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frosty Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 okay, cheers for the excellent reference material. ill get back to it 1 missile avoided / gunners [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If the MWS didn't see it. it never happened"
Frosty Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 the lines are drawn completely straight/ what the ****. every single ref picture I use has this shitty anomaly  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If the MWS didn't see it. it never happened"
Frosty Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 1 am. frosty signing off [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If the MWS didn't see it. it never happened"
theGozr Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Frosty yes many of blue prints online are wrong .. Very annoying Fly it like you stole it..
Vinc_Vega Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 (edited) Use the cross sections of your drawings for reference. Cross section "B" is in front of the canopy and rather round on top. In "C" you can see that canopy and spine are separated from the fuselage. Use a boolean modifier to cut windscreen and canopy frames.
