Scoggs Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) Not a watercooling expert at all seeing how I have only done it once. So I can only really offer what I have done. I have a corsair 750D case which I would recommend due to it having lots of room for stuff in there. I have a Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 360mm on the top of the case and a Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 280mm on the front. I did have an issue in that I had to mount the pump low in the system and couldn't use the harddrive cage. My temps are very stable on load. My two 980TI's with factory overclock hit 35C when doing something like Furmark using both GPU's. I think my highest CPU temp is something in the mid to high 60's. So all in all I think if you used a 360 you would probably be pretty good for a single 980Ti and CPU. I guess if you were limited in space you could add another small radiator somewhere else. And as Gladman mentioned. Apparently thickness doesn't do much for temps. Jayztwocents did a video on it [ame=https://youtu.be/3J6da3YV1yA]here[/ame] EDIT: Oh and I forgot, don't get too set on your loop layout until you start putting stuff in. But please remember, ALWAYS go Res. --> Pump. Other than that it doesn't matter because the water is moving fast enough it will all stabilize. Scoggs Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) so as i see, you don't have an optical drive in there is it an issue without it or no since most things are downloadable? I opted not to have one because yes, everything is downloadable. The last time I used a DVD was when I originally built the PC 5 years or so ago. So when I re-built to do watercooling I chose not to transfer it. Which is good considering it wouldn't have fit due to the way I ran my loop. So yeah, no issue (so far). Especially since Microsoft offers a tool to create bootable USB Windows installers. Although I could understand that it could be a problem for those that cannot afford/purchase un-capped high-speed internet. EDIT: Oh and another few tips. Take your time and go slow. Make sure that you have no kinks in your loop. And MOST OF ALL actually do a 24 hour leak check. It took 20 hours for the water to creep up the threads of my reservoir and start leaking from there. It slowly soaked the o-ring causing the leak. I had to use some JB WaterWeld to seal it, that is what that white line at the bottom of the tank is. For reference that res is a "Bitspower Water Tank Z-Multi 150 - POM" Edited November 27, 2015 by Scoggs My SpecsAsus Maximus Hero IX Z270 i7 7700k @ 4.7GHz 32GB G.SKILL TridentZ 3700MHz DDR4 EVGA RTX 2080Ti Samsung 960 Evo 1TB M.2 NVME SSD EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2 Acer XB270HU 144Hz @ 1440p (IPS) Valve Index OOOOhhh, I wish I had the Alpha of a Hornet!

PureEvil Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 about rad thickness, get the rad with largest area and thickness you can fit in the case (or outside of the case) ;) here is my little 280x80mm monsta ))) STEAM asus p8z68-v gen3, 2600k@4,5ghz(w/c), 16gb, 1080ti(w/c), ch fighterstick/gvl224-4000-8, ch pro throttle, Oculus Rift CV1+Touch, thrustmaster tx
Scoggs Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) And how are the fans set up, exhaust or intake, and what would you recommend Doesn't matter too much temp wise. But I am running the 2 140mm fans at the front blowing in, the rear 140 blowing in and the 3 120's on the top blowing out. I wanted positive airflow hence the 3 blowing in. For fans, the front two (pushing through the rad) are Corsair SP140's, the rear is a Corsair fan that came with the case and the top 3 are Nidec Gentle Typhoons(pulling). Side note: it makes quite a bit of fan noise when I have my dust filters on, but pretty quiet with them off. However I leave the filters on because I always have headphones on anyways. This is everything I bought from PerfomancePCs minus the fans and a swivel pass through fitting (res to pump) which I got off of amazon. EDIT: accidentally bought 2 pump tops. But I had them removed it from the order and refund. They actually had that done before it shipped too, was really nice. razo+r Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Got a quick question Woud it be possible to put 3 Fans to a PWM Fan splitter and put that splitter in the fan controller of the GPU with the water block on it (full cover water block)? If not, would it be possible without waterblock, even if it wouldn't make sense?
BitMaster Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 (edited) Hello community ...... -Would a 240mm rad be enough to cool a i7-4790K? After playing 2 hours of DCS with a H80I, not overclocked and proper contact to the CPU, it reached 90 degrees celsius, but until now, i only experienced it once. ...... Sorry for some english mistakes 90°C for a WC ???????????? something is terribly wrong, i run all 8 cores at 100% in prime95 for example and dont scratch 70°C with any core ! WC in the end still cools with air, get a large radiator or accept heavy fan noise, either or ! good wc-hardware is 3-5x the price of corsair, i run both on 2 systems and the corsair is ok but no match for my wc on this rig in signature....also 5x+ price tag.... but almost zero dB ad well :) highest temps gaming is 48-50°C GPU & CPU **room temp at about 22-23°C comfortable warm I would say, the cooler the room the better the temps !
