Joesope Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Could do with a little help with my setup. So I am just getting into DCS and flight sim in general. I got myself a logitech extreme 3d pro very cheap but very good for a beginner. Ive enjoyed it alot but I want to enhance my set-up a bit and increase my immersion. I want to know what the next immediate thing I should buy should be. Ive heard Track IR is a must but im also missing pedals. Im also finding it very hard to fly the A10 with the lack of buttons on my current stick so is that something I should change now? any help is appreciated.
jcbak Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 IMHO Trackir is an absolute must. I recommend the TM Warthog with throttle. It's expensive but worth it. The stick in particular is of high quality. CH or Saitek pedals..... Crosswind pedals if you can afford them. Joesope Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 Thanks for the info, so TrackIR is the next immediate thing. Do pedals vary in quality as much as a HOTAS? does spending the extra cash really equate to much?
TomOnSteam Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 TrackIR will make a very big difference to how you play (assuming you aren't getting ready for a VR Helmet such as the oculus rift or HTC Vive). If you fly the A-10C a lot, then the Warthog HOTAS is a must. It's the best off-the-shelf HOTAS that exists, and it's easily worth the premium price, for flying almost any aircraft (it's fine for helicopters but there are better options too). Pedals vary in quality (and price) just as much as the HOTAS's do. You don't really need anything too fancy pedals wise for the A-10C because it's an easy ride you can get by with even saitek pedals (but they would still be my last choice). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode

Oceandar Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Since no one in my country sell TrackIr, I've been using Freetrack and now Opentrack combine with PS3 eye for years. It never let me down. OnlyforDCS Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 They are also extremely expensive. Try and find a used MS FFB2 stick. Since I bought it I can't go back to a non force feedback stick. It's the best thing since sliced bread for helicopter flying, and for any kind of conventional airplane flying too. You will need a decent throttle quadrant to get close to the kind of HOTAS functionality you might need. Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
