BoNidle Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Hoping to have these available as a 4-pack on Monday. I am trying for a less reflective finish with my latest efforts, with varying degrees of success. (I have also tried reskinning the 500 pounders based on period photos I have seen. They will be included).

BoNidle Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Thanks lads, glad you like them. I enjoy recreating the lesser known units. I am not sure how accurate the under part of the stripes on "Miss Tena" are as I could find no illustrations or photos for that area. The angle they travel down the fuselage made it impossible to get them to travel around the rear of the main front gear door and, as can be seen from the photo of the real aircraft, the stripes do not cross it. So I have painted them up to the door on either side and stopped. If anyone has any references regarding this I would appreciate seeing them. I am currently partway through the 18thFBW and I'm looking at some South African Sabre's from the War too. @HeadHunter52: Always nice to find someone with a connection to the real thing. If your Dad was a pilot or ground crew and you have any images or info regarding his plane I would be happy to try and recreate it. I did this for several P-51 and P-47 veterans from WW2 in my days skinning "IL2". They are now uploaded to DCS User Files and should be up sometime tomorrow.
HeadHunter52 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 He was ground crew. Radar /gun-sight shop. Worked on all the birds to make sure pilots could hit the bad guys. 36th still flies over there. Longest continuously operating squadron in the AF. :D Now, they fly Falcons. I don't have any color pics from that era, but there is a good Squadron Publication called Mig Alley that has some good renditions and photos.
