fitness88 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Not having a Track IR is it possible to input the 6DOF commands into my mouse? If so where are the commands listed in the game options? Thank you.
GeorgeLKMT Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 You can do that with your mouse wheel by default: Click the wheel + drag = moving up/down/left/right Click the wheel + scroll = moving forward/backwards. Double wheel click switches between the view and cockpit-clicking mode. ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■

The movements you describe above have always been available before 6DOF by either the mouse or 8 way POV, as for zooming in and out that too has always been available by either pressing * or / or mapping your HOTAS to * or /. What does 6DOF bring to the game over what you described above?

fitness88 Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Head tilt and roll and forward and backward, not zoom. So are these the commands that GeorgeLKMT referred to? Are there mapping commands in the options so I can use my HOTAS?
GeorgeLKMT Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 These commands in View Cockpit menu do the same thing as those mouse commands so you can map them: btw: 3DOF = just looking around + zooming 6DOF = that, but also with moving ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
cichlidfan Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 So are these the commands that GeorgeLKMT referred to? Are there mapping commands in the options so I can use my HOTAS? The commands used by TIR, without having checked the files, may be only assignable to a recognized head tracking device. There is a separate default lua file for that. However, it may be possible to edit the lua files to make those controls available to a joystick. I have never looked into it and my sim machine is currently unavailable. GeorgeLKMT Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 6DOF movements could be on any axis actually, TIR is basically nothing but a simple device providing those axes. So if you plug a device with axes and go to axis assign menu, you can map the 6DOF to whatever you want (first six entries named Absolute......View). ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■

fitness88 Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Yes it works quite well. I tried it in the F-15 and the Mig-29s. I'm not sure how much beyond the 3dof [up/dn, l/r, in/out] it will improve my view outside the cockpit looking for objects. Looking inside the cockpit it is quite realistic. I take it this was not really designed for use with a mouse but more for a TIR to simulate extended head movement. Thanks again for all your feedback
