warthogmadman987 Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 I am trying to make a movie, and i am using fraps to capture what i want from a track that i made. I was wondering, is there a way to rewind a track or go back without having to restart the entire track, as if i wanted to capture something from a different angle?
504 Wolverine Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 No mate, you have to start the track again. You can't rewind it. [/url]
warthogmadman987 Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 dang, i figured that though, couldnt that be easy to implement in BS? Can i propose that this be added? Would make many lives easier i am sure.
Kenan Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Not being able to rewind a track is a BIG turn off for most movie-makers. It's almost unbelivable this issue hasn't been addressed so far. Weta43 Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 You couldn't 'rewind' a track using the present system, because it only records events & lets the engine re-create the scene*, & the engine won't run the physics backwards. You can't even start mid track because there's no way for the track to then figure out what missiles are in the air, or which planes are where etc. I guess it has the advantage of keeping the tracks small, but limits their uses. *which is why they're so prone to breaking when patches come out - or even if you change viewpoints - variables get changed & the same events generate different outcomes. Cheers.
zaelu Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 I remember the days when Quake 3 was out and you couldn't do much with a track. It was like IL-2 and Lock on sistem, you could accelerate the track and that was about it. Now there is a mod: "Quake 3 Movie maker" that lets you do with the track more than you can in IL-2 - Lock on system (switching camera position), it lets you rewind . It lets you rerecord the track with all the modiffications... including the rewinds... like the "Driver" game replay system. It's super cool. Maybe in the future the lock on engine will record in a way that those features would come to life here too. One can only hope :D. BTW... Look how cool a Quake 3 movie can be: Get Quaked 3 movie mirors of the movie the one on Quakersnet looks easiest and I recommend the x264 version (you will need FFDShow filter or VLC Player from http://www.free-codecs.com).
