SDsc0rch Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 just posted this over on the 104th's dedicated server thread one way to solve the TK problem is to make units invulnerable to own-side weapons - and instead of the target being destroyed, the shooter gets the explosion that was meant for the target not sure if that can be achieved within the current scripting language or if we would need to modify DCS itself to make that possible, but it sure would alleviate a lot of headache and lower the frustration levels thank you i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Aarnoman Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I personally think that (playing on the 104th as well) teamkilling is some issue. However, I have also found that most people are very apologetic, especially when they get taught how to make an IFF check in the Su-27. This is a simulator, and missiles kill, regardless of how they were fired from. I think it should stay that way.
Brisse Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I have also found that most people are very apologetic Those players aren't the problem. The problems are those few who intentionally teamkill.
KeyserSoze Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 friendly fire should be part of the sim just as in real life; if some knucklehead is doing it over and over online then let the host know and ban him. Agreed, accidental team killing should be left in the sim. Removing those doing it purposely shouldn't interfere with the former as it's desirable from a realism standpoint. Tello Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I would stay away from a server with that kind of noobfriendly/softcore setting. just like guns, drugs, alcohol, politics and religion and penises, the tools are not the issue. it is how people use or rather missuse them that is. Besides. It look like DCS is a growing community and soon enough there will be a server where elitists go and rule every new kid on the block. And a place for all the new simmers like me to shot fuel trucks with brrrt and the enlargement model setting is set to max-power :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Coug4r Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) I've tried putting a R.P.D.S. (Retarted Pilot Detection System) on the missiles which would make them explode in mid-air when fired upon a friendly. It worked but in some cases it would make the server crash so i had to stop using it. Yes it's a sim but if you can reduce the frustration of the more serious players getting shot down again by a 'Hey i got a lock - lets fire!' noob i think you could use systems like this. It doesn't work at all on the open beta or alpha version (yet). E: Made a small modification to the script so the function causing issues is no longer needed, testing atm on the 1.2 server and it's pretty funny... TK-ers kill themselves now.
