Trackhat clip plus and Track IR

So after breaking two trackIR clips pro, you know, like many many others here:

 

 

I was kinda fed up with such a poor design from Naturalpoint and I heard about this Trackhat devices: http://www.trackhat.org/

 

So I ordered the trackhat clip plus:

 

 

Granted it looks bulkier and heavier than the TrackIR clip pro (and it's slightly more expensive) but I feel somehow more confident that I will not break it just by trying to reach my microphone, and it is wireless. This thing charges on a micro usb connector and is supposed to work for a straight 10 hours (tried only 3 hours flights with DCS so far).

You just have to velcro it to your headsets like this:

 

 

Since I own several headsets, I kinda like the fact that I just have to stick an additional small velcro patch on them to quickly give 6DOF headtracking capability to them.

 

It's working flawlessly with TrackIR 5 receivers with no loss or noise.

Interesting, did not realize it would work with the TIR unit, might be worth checkout out.

A little pricey @ $75 USD but it does look like a nice item. Tempted to order but I have been going through way too much money this month!

 

EDIT: @Bad CRC- I may have missed it on the website but is the battery replaceable?

 

EDIT2: It also looks like a really good solution for headsets that don't really work well with a Track-clip Pro.

It is not. The battery is a Li-Ion rechargeable one.

 

Actually, if you are looking on the trackhat web site, it has been made with the ps3 camera in mind and the freetrack software. Nothing related to Naturalpoint and trackir.
