frumpy Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Hi guys, I have quite a bit of experience wth other sims, but I do not get the grip with the mission editor - it's far too complex for my needs. I would like to put my L-39 at Gudauta airport, rwy 33, two cloud layers with some wind, noon time and no other aircraft. Just a usual after-work ride. I checked out a youtube video, but I could not set my aircraft as player aircraft. Is there any tutorial out there on how to do that? Thank you.

Flagrum Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Hi guys, I have quite a bit of experience wth other sims, but I do not get the grip with the mission editor - it's far too complex for my needs. Thank you. 1. Left-Click Airplane icon on left hand icon bar 2. Left-Click on map, an aircraft icon will be placed there 3. Right hand side is the properties dialog of that just placed aircraft. 4. Select "L-39C" for "TYPE" (upper half of the dialog) 5. Select "Player" for "SKILL" (iirc, "Player can only be selected if the aircraft is already placed on the map. This might be what has confused you?) 6. Select "Takeoff from Runway" for "TYPE" (at the lower portion of the dialog - the waypoint options). The aircraft icon now automatically jumps from where you placed it to the nearest airport. Afaik you can not select the runway - that is decided by the ATC at mission start. 7. The aircraft is now set up. Now the weather: two cloud layers are not (yet?) possible. Select the 5th icon on the left hand side - that cloud + sun symbol. 8. Adjust cloud altitude and density at the right hand dialog panel (weather properties now). 9. Adjust wind strength and direction (NB.: in the mission editor you define the wind as "blowing to". So for example, 90deg means it blows to the east ... aka west wind) 10. ??? 11. Profit! (12. Don'tt forget to save your mission!)
Art-J Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 ^ re.10 - there are a couple of quick, predefined weather presets on the same panel Flagrum mentioned, if You're really lazy :D. Somewhere at the bottom, choose one of them, hit "load" (IIRC) and You're set. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
